Nothing but good news for the Patriots these days.

I see this as very good news. Although I would obviously prefer to have Arledge this year, I was not a fan of bringing him back for a redshirt next season. This gives us an opportunity to add a much-need scorer with the fourth scholarship.

Good point. I guess I was simply thinking about having lost him this year.

I'm struggling to figure out what position Lockett will play at the college level. The kid can obviously score as evidenced by his last two games (24 and 28), but I can't tell by the highlights above what his natural position is. He really could be a steal for us.

Let's hope so. That blogger down in GA thinks he'd be starting for us this season. Not much of a reach - we aren't exactly UMASS. Still, pretty high praises. Hope the guy knows what he's talking about.

I thought the same thing after watching tape. Hewitt said in the gomason piece on the recruits that Lockett is a great ball handler, its hard to tell on the video. My guess is that because hes 6-5 he plays more on the inside in HS. I think he will play the 2 and Mayimba will play the 3. Obviously Porter is a 5. Boy I really hope Royal can contribute next season. People are worried about who does the scoring next year but for me as long as we defend I dont really worry about who/how we score.

We could have won these last two games (especially OSU) if we had a more consistent, reliable offense. Our defense played really well, holding with ISU and OSU way under their season average for PPG. So yes, we should all be worried how we're going to score. I'm sorry but we're not going to hold each and every team to under 60 points every night. Not happening.

I guess my point is that with a solid defense we will be in most games. Eventually scorers will emerge. IMO having Sherrod off the roster will really help the other guards. Too often the younger guys defer to Sherrod, obviously this will not be the case next year. I agree with you in the other thread that we need a scorer.

Replacing Wright and Allen won't be easy, but I am looking forward to next year's team. We return guys like Holloway, Jenkins, Moore and Marko, and we bring in Royal and three hungry freshman who aren't afraid to play defense. I still haven't given up on Copes and Gray, both of whom can still contribute.

What exactly has either player done that would still give you hope for Copes or Gray? Nice line for Copes today -- 0 points and 4 fouls. And unfortunately, that is not uncharacteristic for him. He has contributed virtually nothing this year. I DO like our list of guys coming in next year. But as for this year's team -- forget it. Our "senior leader" can't even hit the rim now much less actually make a shot.

I'd love for Hewitt to fire Houston and Copes follows him out of town. Copes is a fouling machine but he thinks he's getting jobbed every time they call one on him. His reactions after he gets called for fouls used to be comical, now I just find it infuriating. Kid is really in over his head.

Nothing at all, to be perfectly honest. I wanted to include all of our returning players, so I put them in the "hope" category. I know some of our fans think Gray is a star in waiting, but I just don't see it. He stands around a lot on offense and seems to check out far too often on both ends of the court. My hunch is that he would be playing more if he was as good as we all want to think he is.

My real hope is that Royal, Jenkins and Marko get most of the minutes at the 4 and 5 next year, with Copes being available when needed. Mayimba seems a little small at 6-6, 190, but maybe he can put on some weight and steal some minutes at the 4.

Been saying it for awhile, Copes is not only a dope, he just plain sucks.
