I really hope he considers switching offensive schemes next year. With Lockett, Jenkins, Copes, Royal, even Marko (who can back down a defender and get his euro hook off) we should be playing out of the post as much as possible.

Far more likely that we play with 5 SFs on the floor than him changing the offense.

Moore is at least adequate -- I like him a lot more than that -- if he's the starting PG. And we could do worse than Edwards as the backup if he doesn't transfer.

Given Copes' history, there is zero guarantee that he won't be unavailable to start the 2014-15 season because of injury or suspension or some other foolishness.

You can't go into a season with a 190-pound freshman as your only center.

Expecting him to stop doing stuff that drives most of us crazy is unrealistic. He's been doing the same stupid sh!t for so long, he's not gonna change now.

Royal is not going to play center.

If anyone on the roster other than Copes is starting at C, it had better mean we picked up a nice JUCO or 5th-year transfer who can play right away.

I forgot about Jackson. He's a PG too, or Point Forward type. Only the coaches know if these kids can compete right away. Or do they? Frustration with the roster is already creeping!

How many teams actually play a center nowadays? It's such an antiquated term, even in the NBA where the last true center was probably Shaq. Most teams use power forwards and small forwards at the 4 and 5, and the point remains that the only true PF we have on this team is Copes.

With one scholarship left, hopefully Hewitt will make the right decision. Hewitt has already loaded the roster with 6-6 and 6-7 swingmen. If he uses the last scholarship to recruit another 6-6, 6-7 swingman, I'm going to be pulling my hair!

I know we have Moore, but the right decision would be to use the last scholarship to recruit a stud PG/SG who can pass AND score. Moore can pass but not a terrific shooter. If all the stud PGs have been taken the next best alternative would be a Center. I just don't see Copes ever playing up to his 4 star rating from the scout report.

Bottom line---Hewitt should not recruit another swingman.

Only he will. Hewitt loves 6'7", 6'8" swing men. He wants a whole team built out of them and wants them to run faster than 6'10" centers and shoot over 6'3" point guards. Instead of making real mismatches he wants a whole team of ambiguous ones based on the fact that he has kinda tall guys who can run (and like, 1 or 2 can dribble).

However, he averaged 8.3 ppg and 3.5 apg this season while playing 27 mpg. He also hit 82% of his free throws and nearly 40% from long range. Off the court, Ross-Miller earned Academic All-WAC team honors. Coming out of HS in Grand Prairie, TX, he was a consensus 3 star from Rivals and Scout. At least we would likely get some fiery temperament out of the kid and a potential dodge ball star if the basketball thing didn't work out.

If Hewitt does end up using that scholarship to get another swing man then the whole idea that Hewitt wants a bunch of tall guys who can outrun centers and shoot over point guard would probably be the only explanation. Hopefully it doesn't happen. He is SUPPOSEDLY a blood hound on recruiting. Hopefully his nose will pick up the scent/hint that he needs another PG/SG combo like Bryon Allen. Or maybe even a center.
