Patriots to Embark on 5-Day International Basketball Tour in Bahamas - George Mason University Athletics

The George Mason University men's basketball team will head to paradise for a international basketball tour this summer in the Bahamas.

"The Green & Gold will play a pair of exhibition games during the training trip, scheduled for August 8-12 in Nassau.

The Patriots also are excited to join Green Coat Society members who will be supporting the Green & Gold in the Bahamas during the special trip."

"As part of the trip, the Patriots also will be afforded 10 additional practices in Fairfax to prepare for competition abroad. NCAA rules allow for a foreign tour by an intercollegiate team once every four academic years.

The 5-day event is organized by The VII Group, with accommodations provided by the beautiful Baha Mar Resort. Anchored by Grand Hyatt and featuring SLS Baha Mar and Rosewood Baha Mar, the resort is situated on 1,000 acres overlooking Nassau's famous turquoise ocean waters. "

Agreed - given the roster turnover combined with reasonable expectations of having a successful season, this is a great year for the trip.

I always found it humorous when there were chili dogs from the Vienna Inn, in the gold room, when we'd play them. Lol.

I work with a guy that was good friends with that JMU student. His "punishment" for throwing the hot dog was access to their practices and seats on the bench for at least 1 game.

Patriots to Renew Rivalry with James Madison in 2024-25 - George Mason University Athletics

The George Mason University men's basketball team will begin a home-and-home series with in-state rival James Madison this season.

"James Madison is the Patriots' most common opponent in the program's 59-year history. The November meeting will mark the 101st all-time matchup between the programs, with the Dukes holding a slim 51-49 edge. George Mason has won 24 of the past 26 meetings.

The Dukes are coming off a historic campaign in which JMU won a program-record 32 games, captured the Sun Belt regular season and tournament titles and defeated fifth-seeded Wisconsin in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

James Madison finished the 2023-24 season ranked 52nd in the NCAA NET Rankings, marking the Patriots' third top-60 foe announced so far for next season. GM also will play at Duke (10) and Marquette (14)."

Hate me all you want, but I miss the Vienna Inn hot dogs in the Gold Room. The chili dogs were some of the best food ever offered.

Hate articles like this because JMU lost everything including their coach. I’m willing to bet they don’t even crack the top 150 this year. Either way nice to see rivalry back. Don’t see Tony losing this one even if JMU keeps it close. Fully expect to be favored.
