GIVING DAY 2023
These are the net rankings from last season for the teams mason plays this year. AVG net ranking is 174. Almost 100 points higher than last year. This is probably helped by doing the 2 power 5 road games within the top 15.

Now obviously it'll be interesting to see where some of these schools end up. I don't expect JMU to be a top 75 NET, but if they are then all the better. The intent is to have a much improved schedule, and I can't help but think our NET will reflect the improvement once the nonconf is done.

all under 100 games on the road
all over 200 games at home
would love to see a better balance
but it is what it is

maybe a better long term metric is to see this average decline over time - until it matches our KenPom score

Need to be a consistent top 75 team, so a road game at our place is a Q1 opportunity, otherwise good teams won’t want to come here.

I really hate this argument. What looks better for a power 5 team/top 50 team, beating a team like Mason on the road or at home? What is worse, losing to a team like Mason on the road or at home? Stop being scared of travelling to play a mid major if you aren't scared to play them at home.

We can dream for a P5 to come to Fairfax but it just isn't likely to happen. The last P5 program we got was UVA, and our program was at a much different point.

Best case scenario is to join up with one of those neutral one game "classics" and try to get a neutral game. Maybe one day VT or UVA will be interested again.

Maybe some big donors should look into organizing a 1 day event. Wether that's in FFX or in DC that's for them to figure out. They use their connections to start this up and make it an annual event. Inova Classic benefiting (blank) could be a nice little event.

GIVING DAY 2023
my mother's side of the family is from Southern Virginia

2 cousins played football at Ferrum before transferring to William & Mary
the oldest played for the Detroit Lions then the CFL before retiring
and the oldest was inducted into the Ferrum Sports Hall of Fame last October

the other cousin had a son who also played for Ferrum before transferring to Va Tech where he was the captain of the FB team during the massacre and is now the Head FB Coach at St. Albans

Ferrum College has done that branch of the family very well
their brother - my oldest cousin had a daughter who graduated from NC Central about 4 years ago.

NC Central is also the alma mater of the former NFL lineman turned artist - Ernie Barnes
he is the artist of all the work shown on the TV series- Good Times

I was on that campus last spring and I am glad it is a home game and they can definitely use the buy money
Moonshine Capital of the World!

Well said. Nothing beats a buzzer beater against vcu. But, I can also enjoy a blowout win against a lesser opponent if it gives our walk ons a chance to play, an honor they certainly deserve.
Honestly, nothing would give me more satisfaction than a blow out win against vcu, other than several of them.

Nothing would give me more satisfaction than making the round of 32 and in essence getting the program back to where we were in 2011 before the craters and speed bumps of the past 13-14 years.

The best ever season for the CAA leads to its downfall: Coach L immediately leaves and Mason begins its slide into mediocrity, vcu leaves the conference within two years, and Blaine Taylor falls apart dragging the program down with him and they leave to chase football.

2005-2011 was a pretty great run for the CAA.
