By being an incredible athlete who can defend multiple positions, rebound, and get to the rim even without the threat of a three point shot? No one said he would be a star or even starter.

You are right, though, if he had a decent shot, he'd probably already be in the NBA, being 6'2 is not his problem.

It's what Shevon Thompson did: spent a few years in the G-League, never quite improved enough to make a roster, and is playing in Belgium now. Maybe he comes back for one more shot (at 26, he has maybe one more shot), maybe he stays in Europe until he can't play anymore. I don't think you can begrudge a player for chasing a dream.

I also think that Mason is right to support its basketball alumni in any way possible. I’d love to see more “broadcasting” (tweeting, etc) about past players’ successes in other professional leagues.

I will say, someone from Mason reaching out to the Timberwolves asking about Marquise and playing time would probably get crickets back, I'm sure.
