That’s totally fair. Except for the fact that D1 schools tend to be larger and have more education options. Sure there is always the exception (UCSD), but, by in large most students will choose a D1 scholarship first.

I never said you can tap anyone, but most coaches would choose to coach for Mason rather than Bowling Green. The team last played in the NCAA Tournament in 1968.

I told you the challenges we face. We are near the bottom in the league in spending, the bottom half of the league in contributions, bottom half in attendance (meaning revenue), when we were hired we were squarely behind SLU, Dayton, vcu, Davidson, URI, and UMass for facilities (there might be others, but I don't know -- possibly St. Joes), we have a ton of talent in the area, but when you've got Georgetown and UMD in your back yard it's really hard to get talent to come to your school if they want to stay close to home (why chose GMU over the Big East or Big 10?), plus Virginia Tech and UVA poaching, plus other A10 schools like vcu, URI, St. Bonaventure, UMass, St. Joes and others

I cannot believe I just read about the lack of difference between D1 and D2 basketball..... yikes bad takes... JUCO is arguably better than D2 basketball because they are comprised of D1 players that have horrible grades/SATs

I was bummed to see James Johnson on the list for his failed stint at VT. I'm not saying it's not warranted, but he was an excellent assistant coach at Mason (not to mention a really nice guy).
