Nice video...but can't we get a golf cart to give the boy a ride to EBA?

You know your form needs improvement when every time you shoot the annnouncer says, “Kier takes a flat footed three”. Ouch. It is flat footed!

After Justin Kier helped Mason get off to a quick start Friday against Navy with his offense, defense and hustle, he wanted to make a quick getaway for an abbreviated Holiday break. The junior guard's plan, after the 84-63 victory: hop into his Chrysler 300 and make a beeline to Harrisonburg to stay the night with his brother, Rasheed; take Saturday morning to see his high school coach, Chad Edwards, and team at a Spotswood practice; visit with other friends in the area.

The rest of the time before leaving for resumption of practice on Wednesday (12/26) at 6 p.m., Kier (pronounced KY-er) intended to spend with his mother and grandparents plus other family at his grandmother's house in Grottoes. His goal: compress time with family and area friends, who are instrumental in helping him and his brother overcome a tragedy that occurred during their childhood.

Three consecutive double-doubles for Kier, who has put himself in the conversation for A-10 Player of the Year.

Another lightly recruited diamond in the rough who has been polished up by our staff and put in the work to take his game to the next level.

Given everything he already has overcome in his young life, I couldn’t be happier for him.

Do they have a most improved player? If so, and the season ended today Kier would win that.

In the last 6 games, Justin has 5 Double - Doubles averaging 17 Pts and 10.5 Reb. MARQUISE 2.0!

I certainly don’t think it’s a coincidence that since I made this Justin Kier shersey last month, he has been tearing it up. He probably saw it and didn’t want to let me down - so he picked up his game to a whole new level.

You’re welcome everyone.

Since you have the magic touch, you should make similar Jerseys for Reuter, Gonar and Otis to get them out of their slumps.

True, there are plenty of exceptions. I'd just like to win a recruiting battle with an A-10 school. Realistically I know somebody going to UNC or Duke isn't coming here, but I'd like to set our goals higher than out-recruiting a Sun Belt Conference level school. Excluding intangibles and growth and maturity, all things being equal a player who chooses us over GW, vcu, and UMass is going to be better than a player who chooses us over Kennesaw State, Longwood, or Wofford.

I think Justin can play at the A-10 level.

I thought it was interesting and comforting to see Justin handling the ball more down the stretch. He seemed very at ease and in control, whereas Otis tends to get a little too dribble happy and loose with his handle. Justin's strength and height are great for shielding the ball from opponents and for seeing over them when he needs to pass out out a double team.

I'm not suggesting Otis shouldn't be part of handing the ball down the stretch — especially given his great FT shooting —but it makes us much harder to defend when we have to guys who can dribble capably when we are nursing a lead.
