Jared is a fine player but I am shocked he did not have to earn his starting roll like most new comers. Especially since Calixte proved his worth last year. In addition, Otis seems confused when Jared is in the game. Otis plays better when he knows he is the go-to player.

I see your point, but according to DP Green has been the best practice player. However, his minutes on the game court didn’t increase until he proved his ability in live games.

I am surprised DP didn’t take a similar role with Reuter. Reuter started in the first game he was eligible.

Let's also keep in mind that he has by all accounts been an excellent teammate since he chose to leave a perennial top 5 team, and significantly higher ranked academic university, to come to Mason. So many of the criticisms on here, while mostly justified based on his performance, seem to convey personal animosity towards the kid.

Well Greene was a true freshman last year and Reuter is in his fourth year of college basketball, there is a bit of a difference between the two situations.

If Paulsen was still stubbornly playing Reuter 29 minutes a game at this point I’d be worried, but he isn’t. Also, Otis and Reuter seem to be figuring each other out, so I think that’s less of a problem now.

No no, those guys were "lethal" 1:1 in the post. At first I had lethal but scaled back to dangerous.

Given Paulsen's prior comments and him looking quicker, more athletic and better conditioned in prior highlights, my optimistic hope is that he has a lingering injury issue that has impacted his game and that he will continue to recover and improve (recall him being in a boot last year). Finger's crossed!

Agree he seems like a great guy and always cheering others on and not crying on the court. As others said I kinda feel bad for him too because everyone, including him, envisioned things starting much differently. Still a lot of season to go.

I really don’t want to pile on this guy, but man, we are so much better without him in the lineup. After the last time he was in the game, everything changed.

Yes we were hitting our shots, but everything else ran so much smoother. The way you would expect all RETURNING players to play. Even when he scores, it throws our offensive rhythm off.

Dave just needs to accept he missed on this one. Not to say he can’t contribute because he potentially can. But he is not a starter by any stretch of the imagination ..... and trust me I have a great imagination.

There were times in the K-State game where I thought he kept us in it. He will help us in games this year, but when it’s not working on a given night we now have the depth to go with someone else. As long as we do that, I’m fine with him getting the minutes to start off.

Reuter just drives me nuts. His post moves are ok, he doesn’t crash the boards or defend that great in the post. He does pass okay if he doesn’t travel or hook shot a brick.

But at the same point I feel like he directs well on defense (sometimes on offense), and will have these moments where he gets to the bucket.

I have no clue if we are only seeing pieces of his potential, or if this truly is what he is. But he does make a nice combo with Calixte, and fortunately he’s helped Calixte develop a lot. He might be more of a coach (like Paris Bennett was) than an actual ball player. He just looked overwhelmed tonight with how St Joes plays.

He’s a (by all accounts) good kid and good teammate who was willing to leave a very good educational institution to come help our program win. Some games aren’t going to be his game, some are. We might not have the all A-10 player Dave talked about, but if he can contribute quality minutes and clean up a few little things he’s still a quality addition to the squad. Last year having 8 guys killed us. Maybe we’re better off starting Calixte, but I’d be very happy having someone like Reuter trading minutes and giving Greg a breather. Pretty sure Calixte would suck by the end of the year if we asked him to play the same number of mpg as he was playing at the end of last year.

For the entirety of the season. Saying we can’t ride him the way we ride Otis. He’s far better than Reuter though, and at this point warrants his starting spot back.

He never played that many minutes, even last year. He averaged 19.6 mpg in our last 10 and only went over 20 in half of them. He's averaging about the same number of minutes now.

I'm fine with riding the matchups and seeing who is more effective against which schemes.

I was going to say something like this....he was hitting those 5 foot shots or backing into his defender and hitting those shots at K State. I have no idea why he was missing the same type of shots last night.
