No assists?

For me, it was great seeing DeAndre playing last night even if it was just garbage time. But, my opinion hasn't changed. When the team is playing really well, then I don't see the need for DeAndre to start or even be in the regular rotation. He's not a facilitator for his teammates as his 6 career assists reflect. But, when things aren't going well, he can be an immediate spark off the bench in many other facets of the game: scoring, rebounding, blocked shots, & steals.

When he's feeling it like he was last night, he's exciting to watch. But, when he's not in the zone, do you really want to see him miss a 3-pointer, grab the long rebound, and immediately miss another jumper without looking for his teammates?

But, I haven't given up on DeAndre.

I have to admit I see a lot of Patrick Holloway in DeAndre Abram, but unfortunately that's not all positive. Both have the ability to light up a box score when they are hot, but they also can bring an offense to a grinding halt with their shoot-first mentality.

I saw at least four possessions last night when Abram ran to the corner and just stood there waiting for the ball, and it reminded me so much of Holloway. Granted, shooting the 3 is what they are both known for, but it doesn't leave a lot of options when a player is determined to shoot before he even gets it.

I'm not saying DeAndre took a lot of ill-advised shots last night, but my hunch is that Paulsen is trying to get him to understand that the ball needs to keep moving when the shot's not there.

I haven't given up on anybody, but when a lineup is working (which Paulsen has found) it is foolish not to stick to that lineup. I like Abram, Kam, and Dixon personally, but if we win with them on the bench I don't want to see them on the floor. Now, if we were 4-7 right now it would be a different story.

Agree with this. In his 8 minutes of playing time, it certainly seemed like he was shooting a lot. Thats fine, it was garbage time, but it did seem like it was a bit too much. 4 shots in 8 minutes

All while the women's basketball team sitting a few rows behind the bench was yelling at him to pass it to Tate.

How much does Abram suck if he couldn't get in on Saturday? Nobody was playing good defense, you think they would have brought him in just to change things up during that disaster.

Just a theory. Maybe Paulsen wants someone to transfer, so he isn't letting some of the players on the court in hopes they transfer? just a stupid theory haha

My guess is the decision has already been made.

But he's played Dixon, Murrell and Abram this year. Did they lose their 2nd year of eligibility because Paulsen played these guys like 30 min each this year? You would think he would've sat someone 100% if he wants them to transfer.

I don't think Paulsen is pushing anyone out of the door. I mean, Abram started the year as a starter. And he lost that job rather suddenly after the shellacking of Houston. I think he's a casualty of the way Paulsen wants his teams to play, to be honest (defense first, share the ball, etc.).

Dixon and Murrell I think are just buried in the depth chart. It's tough to be the fourth big on a roster that starts only one big.

Just saw his instagram post last night, so I guess he's transferring?
If true it's kind of what I've been thinking regarding his lack of playing time. He must have told coach early in the season he was thinking of transferring so Paulsen isn't going to waste his minutes on a player that isn't here for the long haul. Best of luck DeAndre wherever you end up.
