He was injured for the majority of his time. I’m sure Paulsen would’ve wanted to have the depth in the front court. We are going to be extremely thin this year.

Sounds more like he was homesick from the way the announcement reads.

Statement from school makes it sound as if something happened that triggered him needing to be closer to his family. If it's an injury, why not stick it out and get another year of free education. Any discussion about PT would have been had between him and DP back in the spring.

That's why I don't think it was a PT thing - if it was this would have come about a while ago. I think the plan all along was to take the whole off-season off and try to rest and get healthy. Once practice started up, he's been feeling worse and worse and decided if I can't go, what's the point of sticking around?

Again, just my guess.

My guess is he didn't start in the scrimmages and got beat out by freshman, knows they have a redshirt waiting next year. He figured why put in all this time to ride the bench
