Definitely surprised us on what the plan at PG was this year. I did not see O'Connor being PG1.This aged well.
I know I'm in the minority, but I think O'connor is fine in the role with others spelling him as needed. Yeah, at times the turnovers/assists numbers won't look great. But there have been plenty of times that O'Connor or KD lead a fast break or cut to the basket and find someone. Its a two way street because sometimes the pass isn't handled by the target when it should be. However, plenty of times I've seen a great pass out of both of them.
In addition, in Skinn's offense when we run our actions, we usually just need someone to bring the ball up and the ball is passed to someone else either on the wing or top of the key pretty quickly. We're never going to have the top point guard in the country, but as long as its not detrimental to running our offense (which I don't think it is at this point), we should be fine.
I will say it will be interesting to see what we do for next year. We'll (assuming of course), have Quigley, Begg, and O'connor available to run point. Does Begg get to be PG1? Does Quigley crack the rotation? Do we still go get the experienced guy who can fill in at point (like a KD)? We'll have to see how the roster unfolds.
