Reuter already visited Mason. Wish he was eligible immediately, but he'd be a good addition anyhow.

I wouldn't necessarily think so. Grad transfer could fill the gap while Reuter sits a year. Getting both would certainly clog up the available PT for Relvao, Temara, and Calixte in the future though.

Yeah, I kind of had that thought/realization after posting. Might take a Juco out of consideration since there would be a year of overlap most likely.

Reuter also would eat up a scholarship for 2018, although I suppose if he comes in and starts dominating in practice, either Temara or Relvao could read the handwriting on the wall and decide to transfer out.

The Calixte signing also factors in, obviously. He's gonna get every opportunity to come in and earn immediate time.

I still say we need a veteran big who can play right away, but the market for those guys is super tight. Jack Whitman from William & Mary visited UNC for goodness sake.

If we can't get a grad transfer, I suppose we could do worse than wait a year for a guy who was good enough to sign with Tony Bennett.

I know Paulsen said he wasn't going back to a traditional front court but that could be exactly what he's thinking. In that scenario, having 4 bigs wouldn't be a stretch.

At the very least, having the option of putting two bigs on the court together is something we should have.

Not even bigs. Look at Bryon Allen's stats from freshman to sophomore year.

Freshman: 1.4 ppg, .7 assists, .6 rebounds 5.8 mpg
Sophomore: 7.5 ppg, 3.7 assists, 3.1 rebounds

Troy Temara:

Freshman: 1.6 ppg, 1.2 rebounds, .2 assist 8.3 mpg

A lot on this board were similarly questioning Bryon Allen after his freshman campaign too.

Troy looked like a total spaz on the court last season. And that is to be expected from making the transition to A10 ball from HS. The question is: When will the game slow down enough for him to keep his head on straight and allow his skills to take over? Troy has the will and enthusiasm, he just needs to coordinate that with his game-IQ, feet, and hands. I'm cheering him on to make that big leap!

Yes, but when he saw the court, he was 2-13 from 3, shot about 30% from the floor and had as many assists as turnovers. His low numbers aren't just about not playing, they were also playing badly when in.

Isaiah Tate is another example...people even up to his junior year said he wasn't a D1 player.

I'm a firm believer in that it takes Bigs longer to transition to the college level. I have faith that at least one of the three bigs on our roster will develop into something pretty good. That said, I would have loved to landed Frederick, he seemed like he could have been a day one contributor.
