Honestly, these are great for the student section.
Think you're gonna be disappointed by whoever Carolina really is. Get the feeling it's one of these assclowns winding us up.Where is Carolina on this ? I am hurt she didn't respond to my previous question.

I'll be happy when the day comes where there aren't students in the student section wearing random colors like red, blue, etc.Virginia Tech students wear these. Unless you can find some Green n Gold Helly Hansen overalls chances are we aren't gonna rock these lol
Our student section is one of the saddest looking things I've ever seen. Sat to the side of them a few times this year and it looked like a bunch of kids who had nothing else to do. A lot of people there alone just browsing their phones.I'll be happy when the day comes where there aren't students in the student section wearing random colors like red, blue, etc.
Even when the school gives out free shirts during some games....I'll be happy when the day comes where there aren't students in the student section wearing random colors like red, blue, etc.

Let them party and that will change! It seems like such an easy solution to me.They can change stuff around campus all they want, fact remains it's a commuter school with kids who have zero pride about where they attend other than it helps them get a job someday.
Ha, yea it's $470 now for the general lots ($235 per semester).I bet Mason wont though, because parking decals is a huge revenue stream for Mason. I think it was 300 bucks a year when I was a student, I cant imagine how expensive it is now.
Not sure how much drunk driving is going on, but yeah I concur, make them live on campus as a freshman with no car. Force the upperclassmen to move off campus. My guess is they'll probably do this when they have the housing capacity to be able to hold all freshmen/sophmores. And yeah, fixing the social scene would help but I'm not entirely sure what the school can do about it on their end.Let them party and that will change! It seems like such an easy solution to me.
If you want to be extreme, say freshman living on campus cant have cars. Forces students to stay, and limits drunk driving instances.
Let them have fun, and the pride will come.
Many schools already do this BTW. I bet Mason wont though, because parking decals is a huge revenue stream for Mason. I think it was 300 bucks a year when I was a student, I cant imagine how expensive it is now.

I think the interest in the program has just gotten so low that students don't care. When I was in school, we still weren't that far removed from Coach L, and almost every student wore green/gold to games.
Hopefully we continue to improve and the consistent support will come back.

Yeah I mean you have to let people other than freshmen have cars even if they have a dorm cause they start to get internships, jobs etc.I didn't mean to sound like drunk driving was an issue, but that could a political justification as to why freshman cant have cars on campus.
I also think they could do this in a series of phases. If you have a dorm you cant have a car. Still allow commuters until their is enough housing.
I had a lot of friends freshman year throughout the week, and then I couldn't find them on the weekend. hahah. Mommy and Daddy can still pick them up I suppose, but freshman wont be leaving to see their high school sweethearts hahah.

I think someone did a study regarding the US News rankings and found the schools that forced freshmen on campus had higher graduation rates/higher overall rankings. Northeastern jumped like 100 spots in a decade by building a metric f*ckton of housing on all the parking lots they owned. It increased graduation rates and once the construction costs were paid off the revenue from all the new dorms came flying in.

It's getting there. It's only a step or two away from being on par with most schools. A few more dorms, a few less parking lots, greek row and boom, massive difference in perception.Having a son go there an visiting him occaisionally I would disagree. Most of the undergrad Freshmen and Sophmores live in the dorms. He goes to basketball and volleyball games with his fraternity brothers. The on campus life is a universe away from when I went there. He loves it. He has had more barbecures and drinking volleyball games in President's Park this year than he can shake a stick at.
It's not much of a revenue stream for Mason. Because the parking garage(s) were financed with bonds, and they have lots of other expenses like the bus system and new bus stops, Parking and Transportation has been losing money for years. At least, last I heard that was still true. And maintaining all those parking lots isn't cheap either. Many schools already do this BTW. Fun fact, rankings depend on the number of donors (e.g. percentage of alumni) as well as the amount of donations. So if we could get a significant number of the alumni who don't donate to just give 10 dollars a year, we could greatly improve one component of our ranking. It doesn't take a large donation to make a difference.Mason's 6-year graduation rate could use some work, that's for sure. So can it's giving levels. Would do wonders for that stupid ranking system.
