I had this ready to post but the thread was already up and running so I decided to let it go. But, in case anyone wants to know more about Samford here you go. Samford is located in Homewood, Alabama.

Samford is a member of the Southern Conference. They finished the year 22-10 overall and 12-6 in conference which was good enough for 3rd place. They lost to Furman 95-78 in the opening round of their conference tournament.

KenPom:
Samford - 116
NET:
Samford - 116

Samford is 0-2 against Quad 1 teams, 3-2 against Quad 2, 5-6 against Quad 3, and 12-0 against Quad 4 teams.

The game is on ESPN+.

Probable Starters:

6’4” Trey Fort - 14.9 ppg - Senior
6’9” Jaden Brownell - 13.6 ppg - Junior
6’0” Rylan Jones - 11.0 ppg - Grad student
6’6” Collin Holloway - 9.2 ppg & 5.0 reb - Senior
6’2” Josh Holloway - 7.8 ppg - Sophomore

Reserves averaging double digit minutes:
6’11” Riley Allenspach - 7.9 ppg -
6’5” Lucas Walls - 5.6 ppg - Sophomore
6’1” Julian Brown - 5.0 ppg - Junior
6’9” Larry Olayinka - 4.0 ppg - Sophomore
6’2” Isaiah West - 2.6 ppg - Sophomore

Team Stats:

Samford averages 83.3 points per game while giving up 75.2.

They shoot 46.2% from the floor and 36.4% from 3.
Opponents shoot 44.7% from the field and 34.3% from 3.

The Bulldogs shoot 72.3% from the free throw line.

They have out rebounded opponents by .7 boards per game and average 12.8 turnovers per contest.

Thoughts: Their 83.3 points per game is 12th in the nation while their defense is only 271st in the country. So, if you are planning on going to the game I think it’s safe to assume they are going to want to make it a shootout.

It will be interesting to see how the team responds to the loss in the final. Is the fire still there or do we phone this one in? Playing an NIT Championship in Hinkle Field House would be a pretty cool experience given the history of the building.

Though I am a bit confused if Dayton comes first or us reading their team choosing

There will be 16 “exempt” teams, with four spots taken up by the top two teams from the ACC and SEC that were not selected to the NCAA Tournament field. The remaining 12 “exempt” spots will go to the top team in the top 12 conferences based on the KenPom Rankings.

The remaining 16 spots in the 32-team field will go to automatic bids — conference regular-season champions that have a "KNIT" score of 125 or better — and at-large teams of the best available teams that didn’t make March Madness.

Because Dayton currently ranks higher then us on the KenPom rankings
