So much negativity surrounding the Head Coach. You guys are so negative! Give him a chance!

This is my bet too.Medical redshirt. Senior transfer.
That is a really damning stat, Petey. My biggest complaint for all 3 1/3 seasons for Paulsen's defense is that we do absolutely nothing to disrupt what the opposing team wants to do, but rather our entire philosophy is predicated on hoping the other team misses and grab the rebound. That might work OK when you can deny the paint, but right now we are giving up an impressive number of uncontested shots within 3 feet of the basket...
We also seem to do nothing on the offensive side of the ball to play to the strengths of our players. It's one thing if our offense was generating open looks and our guys just aren't executing, but every possession against decent teams looks like a struggle and a loss for ideas.
This defense had some success when we had Moore and Jenkins grabbing rebounds but that's not the case anymore.
Found a stat for the boards - UVM is the third game this season where Mason's opponent shot over 65% in the second half. All three came after the opponent shot under 42% in the first half. Penn and Georgia Southern were the first two. Second half FG defense was significantly worse in 7/10 games so far. Staff is getting whooped in the second half against decent teams.
Paulsen's defensive philosophy, or what has been shown thus far is my issue with him. I'd be ok with it if we recruited tall/physical players but we haven't. This defense had some success when we had Moore and Jenkins grabbing rebounds but that's not the case anymore.
Is it scheme or talent problem?
Well then why the hell are extending our defense and allowing layups? Stay in a pack line and protect the lane. Maybe throw some corner traps in there or something. Man we just solved it!
Reuter needs to realize he shouldn't be playing defense above the foul line. I have no idea how many times he has been playing defense in 3 point land.
Based on the article that Washingtonian linked to...if fired before the end of his contract Mason is only on the hook for half of his base salary. His base salary is only 400k with the other 3ook in supplemental pay. So based off those numbers we would only be on the hook for 2ook a year for the length of his contract if/when he is fired. Doesn't seem that bad?
The thing that baffles me the most is the miss on Reuter. How in the world did anyone think he was an all A-10 type of player especially defensively?
