Grind out every ounce = injuries at this level imo.

They had a 4 star point guard transfer in last week. This was expected

Fernandes isn’t as good as his rating and East is a lot better than people thought. They’re going to regret losing him.

Also whenever some other coach who’s desperate to keep his job throws a bag at Bergeron, there goes the UMass pipeline from Woodstock. I wouldn’t be shocked if somebody makes a run at him to poach Mitchell — especially if the sit-out rule goes away as expected.

Hiring a coach to deliver a specific player has worked out great for them so far, but it’s not sustainable long term.

Jim, Fernandes is a lot better than Sean East

sincerely,
Any person that watched fernandes in high school including me and apparently espn, max preps, anyone from NEPSAC AAA (three levels higher than Kolek) kid is an undersized point guard with incredible passing and driving to him. Gonna give us fits for three years.

I don’t claim to know everything but I follow NEPSAC AAA and AA heavily because that is where I come from. Bergeron is a skeeze ball scumbag but I think this is going to pay off next two-three years which is a lot more certainty than anyone can say about Mason.

wouldn’t be surprised if high major teams are courting Mitchell so I don’t disagree with you there, but Bergeron is a father figure to him so I doubt he leaves.

umass also would have had like 5 point guards if he stayed. Someone had to leave. Thought it would be kolton Mitchell but buggs and fernandes are both a lot better than East.

We’ll see about Fernandes. Just like every other guy who is highly rated coming out of HS, he still has to prove it on the court ... but I thought Jacob Gilyard was too small to play in the A-10 and he certainly shut my effing mouth about that. :D

Fire Paulsen, how dare he not be attached to every big man recruit in this nation!
Piss off. Tired of asshats that misinterpret a comment and twist it into something other than what it was intended to convey.

Hard to be in someones final few schools when you don't even have a scholarship to offer.....

Except we do... don’t know why everyone is putting all their eggs in Kier getting a wavier from the NCAA. With all the discussion and posting of regulations we should all realize by now it’s not exactly a certainty...

Although it would be very Dave to go into next season with an open scholarship...

This is so short sighted, we didn't have an open scholarship until last week, I'm going out on a limb here with saying that the schools on thats kids short list probably offered him well before last week.

To clarify not talking about that kid at all, I agree with you there. But to think that JDS just told the staff last week he was going to transfer is probably not true. They had to know this was coming since the tournament ended I’d imagine, if not sooner.

I don't disagree with that, and I do hope we land another player. It would be nice to finally have a roster of 13 scholarship kids.

Yes, but if Kier says he wants to come back if he can do you just tell him too bad we're moving on?

If you buy some of the earlier rumors that the AD had plans in place to figure out a way to bring back everyone regardless of scholarship limits then it shouldn’t be that hard considering JDS is gone and his scholarship is open.

It’s probably not the right move, but if I’m Dave I fill the scholarship with a late commit or a transfer and in the event Kier gets another year of eligibility then we cross that bridge and figure it out if and when we get there. I do whatever I can to not go into next year without a full roster of scholarship players, and that means not taking a gamble on Kier. Worst case scenario is we hold out for Kier and he doesn’t get a wavier and then Jack gets another half year scholarship only to not ever see the floor...
