So... Too Early to Talk About Next Year?

No way is URI going to be better losing Dowtin, Martin, Long, and Langevine (I don't care how supposedly good Wood and Leggett are as freshmen), especially if none of these incoming transfers gets a waiver to play right away, also especially if the Fatts Russell of the back half of the year is the one that shows up.
All but Martin play right away.
Do you have Venmo to make a bet or are you just talking?
I think they can be better than 13-5 in conference next year IF Russell returns. Never said they will or they are guaranteed to. I will guarantee they finish better than we do next year with or without Russell if you want to make another take.

Did the NCAA waive the sit out rule yet? The Mitchell twins attended spring semester at Maryland from what I understand even though they weren’t part of the team, so that would mean they have to sit out the entire 2020-21 season unless the rule gets changed.

NCAA has not but it seems because they left the team DEC 27th the Mitchell's would indeed be fine. I am not quite sure though. Martin will for sure have to sit one unless the NCAA changes the rules.

I think bringing back a 5th year senior who was close to being an all conf player, fully healthy, elevates Mason a LOT.

It is a lot on one player, but Kier is that important.
Like I said many times, Kier is a good player. But will he be 100%. Will he be able to excel without Otis demanding the defense’s attention. Will teams just clog the paint, knowing Kier’s strength is driving to the hoop.

I hope the answer is yes to those questions. Its hard for me to have the same lofty expectations that many of the board members have until I see him play.

You do know we will have four other players out there also “demanding the defense’s attention,” right? He doesn’t have to play 1 on 5.

Seriously some of the stuff that gets posted here is just too stupid for words.

They are perfectly good questions to ask. My expectations don't come only with Kier playing but more of the impact that having a 5th year player who is talented being able to play (if that makes sense). I always go back to the fact that in my almost 20 years of being a Mason fan (yeesh I'm old) that the most talented teams always had very talented seniors (who stayed relatively healthy). I'm not saying they will win a national title, but having Kier back makes me think they can jump from that 8th 9th position that I think right now to maybe 4th or 5th (assuming various other variables go our way). I think Kier even at 80% of what he was, brings the team good things.

Add Kier with a 5th year of AJ and other talent that is experienced and seasoned, you might have something. At the very least if Dave sucks with that amount of experienced talent, it hopefully means a new coach.

You're just clueless. Every opposing team put their best defender on Otis. Now the best defender will be matched up against Kier. Its quite possible that Kier overcomes that challenge. But unfortunately we don't know until he proves it.

Otis has been gone for more than a year, so why are we still talking about how that impacts Kier? Despite being hampered by injuries most of last season, Justin still averaged just under 12 points in the the five games in which he played more than 25 minutes.

I'm not saying he's a superstar, but he was preseason 2nd team A10 coming into last season. It might not make a huge impact on where we finish in the A10 next year, but a healthy Kier would be a great asset to next year's team if he does return.

We NEED Kier in order to be competitive with good teams next year. Totally would change the dynamic of the team in a very positive way. Still not sure we would be very good but I know we wouldn't be bad if we had him at 90% for the entire year

Like having a cherry on the bowl of oatmeal? The cherry gives you something to focus on and covers up the blandness of everything else.....

If we have both him and AJ and Javon can be a great third option for scoring I would be a bit more excited than I currently am for next year. I’m not a cherry guy but some blue berries would be nice on my quakers

In that scenario Miller becomes our fourth option on offense. That’s pretty damn strong.
