each NBA team works out over 100. Heck, Mike Morrison just worked out with Utah last week. I wouldn't look too much into these workouts

The Wizards don't have any draft picks this year. So for Shevon's sake I hope he goes somewhere else. Plus it would be much better recruiting pitch if he gets drafted instead of signing on as a free agent.

Interesting that the Wizards have expressed interest.

I'm glad the Bullets don't have any draft picks as of now, that would be enough for Thompson to withdraw from the draft if there was chance he'd land with that wasteland.

I don't think he gets drafted, but he's the ideal D-League candidate. Maybe he signs a free agent deal with someone who stashes him on a D-League affiliate to see how he can progress with high-level coaching and training.

To succeed in the modern NBA, you need to either be a freakish all-around talent or have one particular elite-level skill.

Shevon has that. He is an elite rebounder with agility, long arms and desire to go get the ball outside his area. That gives him a chance.

I'll be surprised if he gets drafted, but Shevon will get serious free agent looks this summer because he rebounds like crazy, is a willing defender and can help a team offensively without requiring plays to be run for him.

Dennis Rodman carved out a great NBA career based on that same skill set.

The NBA is discovering one of the most important measurable is wing span and Shevon has that in his favor.

the average NBA player’s wingspan is approximately plus-4., and Shevon is plus 6.

"Wingspan is crucial in today’s NBA. I prefer to measure wingspan as a plus-minus related to a player’s height — for example, a 6-6 player with a 6-9 wingspan would be a plus-3 — so that it’s easier to get an idea of just how much extra length a player has than you might otherwise expect. For the average human being, wingspan is roughly equal to height. For an NBA player, that’s not quite true. According to DraftExpress, which keeps a meticulous database of player measurements going back two decades, the average NBA player’s wingspan is approximately plus-4.

Mike Hamiliton a reporter for basketball insiders has tweeted the following about Thompson

"Scouts who have been present for Thompson's workouts have consistently praised his size, agility, timing and rebounding instincts"

"Thompson is attempting to become the next in a recent line of Jamaican nationals to be drafted into the NBA. His stock has risen.

Larry Sanders would have, too, if he wasn't such an idiot.

I read that article a few days ago when the Bilastrator shared it on twitter.

I think technically Shevon is a +7 because he measured at 6'10" barefoot (6'11" in shoes) with a 7'5" wingspan. http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Shevon-Thompson-87020/

Either way, he has great length.

Thompson is mentioned in a Mock Draft:

"I would also mention George Mason’s Shevon Thompson. Thompson is currently considered a second-round prospect, but has been in to work out with several teams over the past 10 days. Known as being a ferocious rebounder, scouts are impressed with his timing and rebounding instincts, despite the fact that he only began playing basketball during his junior year in high school"

If Mason's hype machine was as good as vcu's, Shevon would be looked at as a first-rounder.

He may not be as good a shot-blocker as Larry Sanders was, but he's a better rebounder, more motivated/hard-working and just as unpolished offensively.

Biggest difference was Sanders got hyped after his sophomore year at vcu, while Shevon spent his first two years at a JUCO and wasn't seriously on the NBA's radar until this year.

Call me crazy, but I am predicting Shevon to go to the Spurs at pick 29.

This late in the draft, the spurs are not going to get an immediate impact player.

Their roster is full of veterans and well respected coaches.

They don't have any projects in the moment, so maybe they take a shot with Shevon and take the time to develop him.

Shevon also worked out with Houston, Orlando, and Chicago.

I doubt Chicago is interested anymore because they just acquired Robin Lopez in the Rose Trade.

He could fall into Houston's Lap at 37, or 43. Or even Orlando at pick 41.
