Searching for Vaughn Gray

LOL the fact that you responded to that proves you're not really who you say you are and are clearly catering to the 4o year olds on here. Kudos., I'll bite. Tell your bro to transfer and stop knocking up young girls.

*yawn.... chuckles... yawn* i'm not gonna exchange insults via blogs with someone irrelevant who's still has his facts wrong about who my brother had relations with... and i must've struck a nerve somewhere along the line because it took you almost 2 hours to come with that remedial retort *yawns*... i'll leave you with 1 thing... i'm easily approachable at weekend home games and i'll give you a chance to voice your opinion like a man and not a boy who can't get his facts right behind a computer keyboard... but it's all peace and love so don't get too caught in your emotions

It's awesome that Vaughn Gray's brother posts here and is mostly reasonable. I wanted to like Jay Threatt's aunt but she was a little too much.

There's no way Hewitt or his supporters can explain this. If Vaughn did something wrong, suspend him like the other knuckleheads. If he's not suspended, I'll assume he didn't do anything wrong. Don't tell me he's not out there because he can't hack it. Don't tell me he doesn't defend well enough and then play Johnny and Erik 30 minutes a game. Don't tell me he's an offensive liability and then give Anali "I only have elbows" Okoloji some run. There's no possible justification for benching Vaughn that makes any sense. Remember when the guys called him "The Future" his freshman year?

Vaughn Gray's brother rules! Its not easy hearing, or reading, crap from some armchair QB on a message board talking crap about your brother's basketball game or personal life. Show some class people. Vaughn is a Patriot and deserves to be treated like a fellow Patriot amongst all of us.

Vaughn has represented George Mason very well over his tenure. We all are glad to have him aboard and wish he stays and contributes to the team in any aspect. You have taught him well and we only wish nothing but happiness and success to you and your family.

Maybe Virgil can be the next AD. He could fire Hewitt and name himself as the new head coach. Vaughn would then get 40 minutes a game. TOC would be gone. And we would have an upgrade at HC. Everyone would be happy. And Jollay could be an assistant if he promises not to fight with players' moms.

It gives me the sads that Jollay has replaced the PHAT (Patrick Hollway Appreciation Thread) with the RHAT (Ricky Holloway Antagonize Thread).

That's cool to have it confirmed that fan boards like this are being read by people in direct connection with the program, a blood relation of a player is even cooler. I'm the oldest of three brothers and I'm pretty sure I'd be curious to what was being said if I was in your position NoCliche87 even though I know most of us on here are just fans, but fans with a lot of desire to see success. Personally, it just sucks to see what is happening with the program right now(I've been following since '00) and I feel bad for players like your brother who came to play in a winning program but aren't right now. The team morale must be pretty damn low but I know these guys don't want to be losing game after game. Can you give any further insight to why things aren't consistent on the court? Is the coaching really THAT bad or are the schemes too hard to understand? I know your probably not at liberty to say but, hey, that's what metaphors are for :)

My opinion on coaching is you have to actually know your personnel. Don't assume you can assemble a squad, roll the ball out, and think eventually they'll figure it out. Know who to use and their most valuable assets, but also know how to properly use them. Unfortunately we're not a school that's going to land 4-5 star recruits that may not need that much coaching because they're that gifted or have a high basketball IQ (and even some of them need valuable coaching at some point or constantly). This is when developing a relationship with your players, in my opinion, is important. In regards to schemes, we can all see that whatever they are isn't working and hasn't been all season, offensively and defensively.

Coach Hewitt has been saying that the problem is execution, not effort. But, if I understand Virgil correctly, the real problem is that Hewitt does not effectively utilize the players based on their individual abilities and deficiencies. And, this results in the failure to put the players and the team in the best position to succeed. I believe that we've discussed many examples of this on this board.

I'm also a fan of Gray. Not sure how you hit 40% of your 3's as a freshman and then basically get as much time as a walk on as a junior.

But here's the problem...Gray will NEVER see the floor now. How would it look if Hewitt plays him now, after his brother came on the message board and roasted him? Nope. Hewitt will dig in even further.

It's a no-win.

that doesn't say much for any coach of any program if they visit blogs to see what people say about them... and I didn't roast him on here (just after fordham on twitter), I just confirmed the obvious of what everyone else sees... Never demanded my brother see 30 mins a game or anything... I just said he can contribute what this team is losing by and some... if that strikes a nerve within him then that's foolish

I agree with you. And I wish your brother would get 25-30 min/night.

I still think while Hewitt most likely doesn't read these boards, I'm guessing enough people who talk to him do. And he'll know. And then he's stuck. Play Vaughn and he caved to message board chatter. Doesn't look good. It's too bad, from what people have said here it sounds like Vaughn is a good kid.

Good. Then maybe he'll start reading these boards and change the scheme to fit the personnel he has and instead of running a scheme with players he wished he had.

And Jollay can teach him how to take a dump someplace other than a bathroom.

Shaka Smart is selling and they'll run through a brick wall for him... and in my opinion i don't think they have better talent than our GMU team... but you can see the bond he has with his players and the chemistry they have with each other...

NoCliché87--I appreciate your comments and believe you are making some good points. However, in addition to the coaching issues, I do believe we have an athletic/talent deficit with the top teams in the A10. I recognize that puts me in the minority on this board but nonetheless I think we do but remain hopeful that some of our young recruits will help fill that void in the future. I disagree that our players have more talent or athleticism than vcu's. However, I believe that Shaka's ability to coach and inspire his team has led to better recruiting and he has gotten more out of that talent (vcu also has an excellent fan base). Finally, I actually believe playing Vaughn more would in my estimation eliminate some of the athletic/talent gap we have with the top teams in the conference. Vaughn has shown he can play above the rim, attack the glass on the break and in transition and spread the opponents defense with his range. I also am not sure I have seen enough of him to fully assess his defense but given his athleticism he should be able to compete at a level at least as high as some of our guards currently getting playing time. While none of us can adequately assess his attitude and play in practice, I appreciate that he is still here to represent the school. I would certainly hope the coach is playing the players who both are performing and giving it their all.

As others have noted, we appreciate your insights and welcome you and other insiders to the Board.

But we don't really know that. He's been suspended before and we have no idea what his attitude is at practices/meetings/other team events. Also seems to me a lot of people on here are quick to forget he's a pretty awful defender.

I put him in the same category as Arledge. Was thinking about leaving when Hewitt arrived but was sold on staying by the staff. And now very much regrets that decision and doesn't buy into Hewitt's system.

So the people ahead of him are awesome defenders is what you're saying? Aside from the infraction him and Copes served suspensions for last season, what else have you heard? enlighten me.... And please provide insight on hewitt's system because we all must be missing its' greatness

You have every right to post here but I could care less what a player's brother thinks or has to say. I come here to talk to other fans and other season ticket holders.
