Not a bad thing, maybe our boys in green 'n gold can sneak up on some teams. But why would you think Mason should be even an honorable mention in preseason prognostication?Cliff's notes: Mason does not exist.
Paulsen has done a great job, but I am actually a little disappointed that our front court is such a mystery. Paulsen made a name for himself at Bucknell because he has a good front court. Not a bad thing, maybe our boys in green 'n gold can sneak up on some teams. Looks pretty daunting to finish top-half of the A-10. If that happens then look for Mason being a great story. Otherwise, a number 10 finish might be generous. This might be a tough season to watch, perhaps even painful at times. I'm just hoping that a shorthanded team falls into the "ferocious-cornered-animal fighting-to-stay-alive" category.
- Four freshman and three sophs on a nine-player team (assuming walk-ons don't get minutes)
- No seniors
- Nearly 40% of last season's scoring has graduated
Go get 'em boys! I've got you're backs.

Front court isn't really a mystery lol. We have Calixte a true freshman, Relvao (ugh) Reuter (redshirt that will probably take majority of mins next year) and Wilson and Mar (not traditional bigs but they will be REALLY good)Paulsen has done a great job, but I am actually a little disappointed that our front court is such a mystery. I'm praying Revao steps it up this year.

some athletes are never truly healthy and I am beginning to think Relvao is one of those folks. It kind of is what it is with big men who have bad knees and bad backs. Hopefully he can at least contribute. I am just glad I don't ever have to see Danny Dixon in another basketball game.Relvao was apparently still limited last season, so hopefully he comes in fully healthy and can at least rebound and play some defense (I don't see him being a big offensive threat even when fully healthy). Calixte is going to have to pick up that slack if we are going to do anything this year.
Gotta have good post defense, rebounding and screens from Calixte. Any points we get from him as a freshman will be a bonus.
We need someone down low who can make a team pay for overloading the defense to stop Grayer and Otis from scoring (that could also include AJ and Mar), but we can't have a black hole at the 5 spot.
I am sorry to do this but come on man...... Relvao was 1-1 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line in 7 mins in total in the A-10 tournament with 0 rebounds, 0 blocks and 2 personal fouls..... He made one decent drop step layup if I remember correctly..... But being excited about what you say in the A10 tournament is just weak. "He looked more than competent defensively, and he had a few nice post moves, even if the shots didn't fall." Like you are just making things up with your postDaniel was great in limited action in the A-10 tourney last year. Let's hope he grows from that performance. All we really need from him is to be big on defense, set strong screens and be able to hit some open bunnies when teams cheat off of him. I'm hopeful he'll surprise some of us.

I agree with your assessment of fan types.. Although I wouldn't call myself pessimistic. I think we come in 6th in the A10 this year. I just think Relvao only had about 2 "better than bad" games last year and one was in a meaningless CBI game. Maybe he was totally injured all of last season and has recuperated because I wasn't exactly excited over what I saw.I remember Relvao looking healthier and better late in the year. I also remember being impressed with his ability to effect, if not technically block, shots.
If healthy (and we all know it's a big if), there is reason to believe that he can contribute as a space eater and shot alter-er. Any offense is a bonus. Some people choose to have optimistic outlooks towards uncertain situations, and some people choose to be pessimistic. It's really what drives about 99.9% of sports message board discussion.
