Predict the Next Coach Pool

Jeff goodman reported that we are interested in Steve Prohm and LaVelle Moton.
I know these names aren't new for the boards but I didn't know much about Moton, seems like a guy that could be brought in at a good rate and would have high upside given what he's done at N.C Central. I'd prefer Prohm but Moton might not be a bad alternative. Guess we'll find out soon enough I have a feeling we'll have a new coach by about this time next week.

Yeah, Rothstein was the first guy that had this...but I wonder who dropped dime to him. Cause the more I think about it....the more I have doubts about Prohm actually interviewing.

If anyone is (still) in the Cherry/Caputo camp...the more we hear Mason targets might be going elsewhere (Howland to Miss St, Moten to Charlotte) the better chance they actually may get contacted at some point. But I'm starting to have doubts there as well.

My guess is Prohm wants out of Murray State. There are only a few good jobs open. We are one of them. We offer something he doesn't currently have, i.e., multi-bid conference, nice place to raise a family, and good recruiting area. His record this year should have been good enough but not in the OVC. Are we his #1 choice? Probably not but we are in the top five so he is going to be very receptive to any overture from us.

Now that I think of it, if Prohm is in "wait and see mode," I'd like BBB to put the full-court press on Moton and see what happens.

Just being a basketball-only program and playing in a multi-bid league makes us a more attractive job than Charlotte, which threw its lot in with football by moving to CUSA.

Moton seems to be a charismatic guy, but also has teams that play very disciplined basketball. Just what we need to keep young guys in the fold and get the most out of the talent on our roster.

Young is another excellent coach.

Frustrating part is that TOC probably could've hired him 4 years ago, and we would be so much better off than we are post-Hewittpocalypse.

Oh well, at least Edwards is doing his damn job the right way. Seems like we have some quality coaches interested in digging us out of the ashes.
