Possible coaching scenarios

I read something somewhere about $50,000 owed on a horse bet and a lawsuit. Cracked me up.

What about Manhattan coach Steve Masiallo?

Was ready to go to USF until the nixed the deal....now kind of waiting in the wings and not sure about if Manhattan would take him back. Known as a top upcoming coach and a Rick Petino underling.....

you did read why USF nix the deal right?

A UK degree is the same thing as no degree. USF doesnt get it. Haaaa

And dumb doesnt begin to describe the USF folks. Offering big job before doing background check.

you mean, like hiring a guy who has a track record of not making in-game adjustments and had admitted to having challenges managing a roster where he doesn't have a point guard?

"I didn’t do a good job of managing the roster. I look at other programs that have lost players. They did a much better job. I did a bad job of managing the point guard position. We were perpetually young there, and that’s not a good thing in today’s college basketball world, I don’t care what league you’re in"

Q: Do you feel like you’re a better coach now than you were when you were hired there 11 years ago?

A: “Absolutely. I learned so much from my experience at Georgia Tech. I walk away with nothing but positive feelings. I’m certainly a better coach – particularly off the court – because of the experiences that I had there.”

baaahaahaaa baahaaaaaaa......and we hired this?!

Nah I didnt hear why.....just a discrepency on the resume or something. What was it?

But frankly Id take a guy who can coach and win with a bit of exaggeration on the resume, then a dude like Hewitt whose resume is legit and cant coach a rec league team.

What do you mean? My rec league team plays a Hewitt style offense and we do just great. Last week we got in 8 first-to-7 games before the lights went off because our time was up.

This post explains a lot. Seems like a good idea to have a guy who lies about having acollege degree mentor kids who are in school to get a college degree.

Explains alot about what?

Given what is the issue here (him saying he graduated from UK when he didnt) no, thats not a giant issue to me...nor does that make him a terrorist or untrsutworthy person. We arent talking about paying players, murdering people or a drug addict.....While obviously its a silly thing to do and not right, because all it takes is one call.....people exaggerate resumes alot. Hell, Chef Robert Irvine from Restaraunt Impossible did it....

All things considered yes, if everything else checks out and he explains why.....I wouldnt have a problem hiring him. His coaching merits stand up imo as well.

Evidently, he lied to 4 schools (Tulane, Louisville, Manhattan, & South Florida) about graduating from Kentucky. Am I the only one who is surprised that colleges don't do a better job in verifying college degrees for job applicants (including coaches)?

Exactly. Not graduating wouldn't be a deal breaker - but lying about your credentials to your employer during an interviewer you can't get past.

It wasn't the BBQ that got Bruce Pearl fired, it was lying about it to the UT administration.
