Panic? We've already hit rock-bottom. Mason is on the way up. Kier already looks like a sophomore. Boyd and Temara are body ready and have some decent skills on both sides of the ball. Chemistry is building.

Most developed teams have good chemistry as their upperclassmen get all the minutes while the freshman are eased in. Our freshmen are being in thrown into the fire. Lots of them! We barely have chemistry with the sophomores. And then dilute them with a throng of freshmen?? Cripes, we're doing GREAT at 3W–3L!

Frankly I think the players are playing just fine. I think the issues in the first few losses were on the coaching staff.

I disagree. Would have won both games if the players made their open looks and at the stripe.

What concerns me is still is defensive rotations and fighting through screens. A lot of late rotations, running under screens or getting caught off guard leaving players wide open. That needs to tighten up significantly if we want to clad out of the basement.

I still think we're going to struggle more often than not this year, but I will take the fun when I can get it, and watching Moore go absolutely berserk on teh glass this season is a hoot

Keep in mind what Paulsen said in the Washington Post preview article:

Still, youth will leave the Patriots susceptible to wild performance swings.

“We’ll have some games this year, I am pretty confident we look awesome,” Paulsen said. “And within three or four days, we can come back and look like we never practiced before.”

So it promises to be a bumpy ride--progress isn't linear.

Seriously, you didn't expect any kind of learning curve with four true freshmen and five sophomores rotating in and out of the rotation? I admit there have been some frustrating stretches and coaching decisions, but I couldn't be happier with how we played the last two games after the a**-kicking Houston put on us.

The key now is taking the momentum of the last two games into the JMU game Saturday. Baby steps...

Seriously, maybe it's because I've been busy changing diapers the last few days but I have not seen as many positive comments for how the team looked the last two games (against two potentially solid mid-major teams) as I did negative comments for losing 2 close games and 1 blowout.

If you are going to be quick to pull the criticism trigger, at least be fair and give credit where it is due. Paulson has shortened his rotation, Moore and Otis are killing it, Jalen is great when not sitting on the bench in foul trouble, Kier is starting to find his form (and Newman as well). All likely a result of the rotational rotations.

90% of University presidents would axe every sorority and fraternity if they could. They are seen as symbols of exclusionary white privilege, and bullshit PC liberal culture can't have that.

Second. Kind of ridiculous thread, there's no reason to panic when you're already at the bottom. We have no where to go but up.

Team is starting to figure out how to win again. Are we in for a bumpy ride, yes. Can we criticize coaching strategy, yes. But let's keep all this in perspective.

I don't know what we would have said if we had social media while suffering through Nestor and Westhead in the 90s. There were some rock-bottom moments, many, many of them.

So far we have only suffered 4 or 5 bad seasons post Larrañaga. Nestor/Westhead lasted what, 8 or 9 seasons. The DJ3s on this board need to settle down and just offer support to their team. Good things will come. I promise.

For the other current doom & gloomers who went through the 90s—just remember where you came from. You can get through it again.
