Panic Button

I guess my question is...why are we worried about a panic button when we have been the bottom feeder of the A-10 the past few years? What's really changed here?

You haters and bandwagon fans need to get real...

Coach L will have these boys ready come tourney time in Richmond! Raoul will get it together and put up some great numbers this season-- just wait.

While we haven't beaten a Div 1 team this year, the discussions on this board made me start to think on how we started last year. So I looked at the first 2 Div 1 games we played last year and compared them to our first 2 Division 1 games this year.
  • Last year we lost to Colgate by 13 and Mercer by 9
  • Across those 2 games we shot 38% overall, 18.6% from 3, and 49% from the line.
  • This year we've lost to Towson by 6 and Mount St Marys by 2
  • Across those 2 games we shot 46% overall, 19.4% from 3, and 61.4% from the line.
Clearly we're not shooting 3's any better this year and there still is much room for improvement, but I'm willing to give the coach and team some time to learn the system.

No panic button yet. The bar is set low for me so it would take a lot to fall that far short of the goals I set for this team.

No way we should have beaten them if we had transfers and played full court press defense!

Well Towson lost so.... And lets see how Good UMD turns out. UMD only beat Georgetown by 1 point and Georgetown lost to Arkansas State.

Also for everyone who thinks I am crazy to think it only takes 3 years to rebuild, just look at Towson once Pat Skerry took the head coaching job. If you want to claim they are so good now, you have to see it only takes a few short years to turn a program around.

1st year- 1-31
2nd year- 18-13
3rd year- 25-11 CIT Quarterfinals.

After the virus, anything over 3 wins/season is a good thing. Heck, if we just occasionally get back on defense we're doing better. I'm still mad about 32-4 vs. vcu. That has to be the worst half of coaching I've ever seen.

Ian Boyd was the NC State player of the Year last year. He is physically ready to comepete at this level. My two questions are, is the staff pushing this kid hard enough? He looks pretty relaxed out there, maybe too relaxed. Is there something DP could be doing to help get him going? Or is he playing within an offensive system that limits him? And secondly, when was the last time we had a State Player of the Year at Mason?

Not me. The players I can understand, but if the coach doesn't know his own system that's simply inexcusable!

Definitely not panicking; however, I was hopeful we'd beat MSM. Honestly I expect both Towson and them to make the tourney or come close. We'll lose a lot of games this year that we could have won. We're still two years out.

In GMU's history there have been 25 winning seasons and 23 losing seasons. Subtract Coach L's 13 winning seasons and our history looks that much more depressing. 7 of the 10 coaches in our history have sub .500 records for their careers. Our overall record as of last night is 720 - 710. By the end of this year we will be back below .500. Subtract Coach L's record and the program stands at 449 - 548 all time. In short, we were a one coach wonder. Thank you Coach L. I'm not going to hit the panic button, it's just looking more and more like I will not support the program after this year. Losing, especially losing so often of late at home, will make me think about giving up my season tickets for the first time since I don't know when. There is an end to my patience. The program is leaderless and does not have a clear direction. It's been that way for far too long. I don't know whether this post is a better fit here or in the Brad Edwards thread. It really doesn't matter, we suck regardless.

I'm tired of the excuses for freshman. I'm sorry but look at any program and freshman contribute. Remember hancocks freshman year.

This team lacks talent. And had a stuburn coach.
