Going home every weekend as you probably know isn’t a unique to Mason thing though.

But otherwise yeah, it’s lame and I agree that maybe banning cars would help.

I have no clue what it’s like now but I suspect weekends are at least a little different with some folks around and hanging out. Even in my era that would occur, and I was afraid of being the only one left and being the only one not from 5 minutes away. I wasn’t which was cool.
Yeah it happens at every school, no perfect way to correct the problem.
But a couple small fixes could help.

1. Freshman who live on campus are ineligible for a parking permit.
2. Move Mason Day to the fall.

Ah yes the good ol’ suburban NIMBYs of Fairfax that probably have prevented a lot of mason things over the years.

Fortunately unless this gets thousands upon thousands of signatures and legit attention, this is nothing more than some internet noise.

It's not just, Fairfax. I assure you, NIMBYS are everywhere. But yeah, I get you.

A response from Dr. Wash on the concerns from the community: https://president.gmu.edu/news/2024-02/open-letter-george-mason-universitys-neighbors

They are working to build a microsite that will house information and updates related to this project, which I know we can all appreciate given their usual "operate in the dark" ways of working.

Other than that, nothing really new in his response that we haven't already discussed here. He emphasized that it will be a "..temporary stadium, which is a smaller and simpler version, of what a permanent stadium would be. Nothing else is being proposed at this time."....I'll continue to temper my expectations on what this will be in the short-term, but the door is open for future development should this all work out the way we hope it does.

I found this posted on X. Any guesses on why the ground lease was discussed in closed session.

Freshman on campus being ineligible for parking passes makes sense, and it wouldn't be a Mason-only thing, I know many other campuses across the country who do the same.

they probably should have did that with the "Freshmen need to live on campus" mandate they had.

Not sure if they still have that though.

When this stadium finally opens we should have a cricket match, basketball double header, softball game, soccer game, indoor track & field meet, swim meet, and volleyball game on the same day. I don't care if some of the sports are out of season I want pure chaos around the intersection of 123 and Braddock.
