How about we just say "better" players?
I think we are all on the same page here
FWIW, I still consider ODU as "my" primary rival. I know, JMU. I know, vcu. I know, GW. I know.I don't consider you dumb, mayne!
I think if anything you handled it better than me. For me there would also have been the initial fear and confusion, gradually giving way to hate.
Beautiful unadulterated hate. And a mission later that night to take out the Monarch propaganda.
I’m not. Eight of his 12 rostered players have played one season or less in the A10. How do you come to the conclusion DP needs to recruit “better” players? Define better for us.
Um... better players that would make us a perennial top 25 team or higher. Players that will potentially end up in the NBA.
Do you think we are recruiting the caliber players to compete with the top programs in the Country on a consistent basis? Even if in the best case scenario our guys are the best in the A10 this year and the next several, we are still certainly a notch below the ACC, right?
Confused as to what is hard to understand about what better means. It means... better. Taller, faster, stronger, more athletic, more developed when they arrive, etc.
And this is in NO way a knock on our current players, I love all of our guys and Otis will go down as one of my all time favorites.

The talent acquisition process is tied directly to program identity, institutional support, institutional identity, conference identity, player development and the overall belief the recruit will be a player in a “perennial top 25 program or higher”. This process is a massive enterprise that goes light years beyond simply finding better talent. Your type of better does not happen over-night nor without complete institutional buy-in. Now, let’s get better.
You guys are severely misinterpreting what I'm saying. Only saying we should be recruiting higher level/caliber players in several years after we have success on the court than we currently are. That should be the expectation of nearly every program in the Country except for maybe Duke, UNC, Kansas and Kentucky.
Not trying to be argumentative, but by whose standards will we decide whether future players are higher level than our current players?
I think it’s pretty likely we will be attractive to more HIGHLY RANKED players after we go to the NCAAs and win a game or two, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they will be BETTER than the current guys.
Paulsen's standards.
vcu fans are going crazy waiting for today’s 5pm decision of 5 Star Bigman Armando Bacot Jr. they are in his top 5 with UNC, Duke, Georgia, and OK ST. He’s from Tichnond so I think it’s just more of a respect thing. Most of the experts think he’s going to UNC.
That said vcu has made a lot of well rated players cut lists this summer, guessing Rhodes is a pretty good recruiter.
So many great players come out of the great city of Tichmond. The great Mason legend Peterson was born in Tichmond.
Peterson was the only 5 time CAA POY in A-10 history, truly a legend - almost mythical
Will be interesting to see if vcu gets any of these guys.
