If anybody wants to watch college bball tonight the CBI championship is on ESPNU. Yeah - it's the CBI, but I'm impressed with the crowd at Nevada. I remember hearing that Brion's didn't even televise the CBI. Yeah - it's the CBI, but if it's your team in it - you should step up and tune in.

I noticed that too. it looked like it was sold out.

I happen to catch the last 30 secs of regulation to see the Morehead St player bank in a free throw to tie the game. Surprised more players, who struggle at the line, just don't try and bank it in. it still counts as a point.....

I caught that too - I wasn't sure if he banked it in on purpose or not. It was a good game, and though it was more of "only game in town" scenario than GMU, I was impressed with the crowd. They could have been out gambling!

I'd say this was a very successful tournament year for non-BCS playing basketball conferences with the Big East winning the NCAA tournament and the A-10 winning the NIT.

Yes, very glad UNC did not win the whole enchilada; a blue blood that should be under NCAA penalty now for academic fraud.

Most of these one-and-dones aren't in class in the second semester. Everyone looks the other way.

Yes, but at least most schools maintain the charade with legitimate university courses. Employees in the UNC African and Afro-American Studies Department were creating many "no show, no work" courses where athletes had little or no contact at all with professors and received passing grades.

It happens everywhere. Unc just got caught. The amount of $ unc brings in with its brand alone to the ncaa, might be why they get little to no punishment. Plus they will weasle out of it by saying classes were for all students and thus not an athletic dept infraction. Then ncaa has no jurisdiction. just the word on the streets down here.

Oh yea, I know, I've heard the stories from many folks who have info on what goes on at the "bigs". Worked on a project with a guy who told me all about what went on at Wisconsin as they were in position to go to their first Rose Bowl in 30 years. (1993/1994) Also worked with a lady who volunteered for Georgetown basketball and told me about the craziness during the Iverson era. And yea, I don't evpect that the NCAA to do much to UNC. Still, creating phony courses and forging the paperwork and professor signatures is pretty major stuff...most of the time programs find a way to BS their way through existing courses and programs. (think of Penn State's Parks and Rec majors).

Isn't this how Reggie Bush got caught? I know his mom was living in a giant mansion of a house in Southern California, but I thought there was also a Mercedes thrown in there, too.

Yep, ol' Pete Carroll ran to Seattle as fast as he could at that point. This stuff has popped up in many prominent scandals over the years...the Fab Five, Maurice Clarrett at OSU, Pony Express at SMU. Watch ESPN 30 for 30 "Pony Excess" to see how bizarre it can get. SMU literally had a pro style payroll for its football team, which they hoped to quietly phase out until a guy who lost playing time due to drug and alcohol problems spilled all the beans to a major Dallas newspaper.

The local minor league team has a meet and greet upcoming with Jim Boeheim and the new SU football coach...a guy named Dino Babers. I was going to go down and get autographs but found out today no autographs are allowed. You can bet that wasn't the condition of the new football coach. Another reason to dislike Boeheim and the Orange. That's why it's easy to root for Larranaga - can't imagine him turning down an autograph request. He's the anti-Boeheim.

I have autographs from Larranaga that were unsolicited, haha
