"In my mind, my next job is where I'm going to finish my career,'' he says. "I want to make sure it's the right situation where we have great success."

Does this statement trump his past actions at UCLA? One of his problems there was connecting with the kids. Thats a major element in recruiting. Then all the lack of discipline, drugs, fights etc.

Howland makes me nervous, so I'm gonna switch to NO on him.

That's where an assistant helps out. Cough cough Lamar Butler cough cough.

According to Lamar's twitter account coaches play no role in the performance of the team overall. That's on the players! DISIRE! SMH #hashtagsomething!

I'm not saying I want them either, I'm trying to noodle what other coaches are currently not coaching.

Among the guys who would also satisfy the standard of a "significant" hire, since that's what I keep hearing, there aren't many:

Howland
Gaudio
Gary Williams
Bob Knight
Mike D'Antoni

Some here stated new coach did not have a team. Could that mean he simply isn't a head coach? My info is more in line with that.

I was told late last week that Hewitt would be fired in very short order and our next head coach would be a "significant" hire whom the fan base would like.

Based on that info, I assumed that it was someone not currently employed. Considering social media and the logistics of a basketball season, I didn't think there was any way Edwards could've met with a coach who was already under contract and made even a verbal agreement without it leaking.

I've also acknowledged that since I don't have a name, my info and assumptions could be totally off-base.

The longer it takes for an announcement of the new coach, obviously, the more likely that I'm wrong.

Just throwing this out there: Can anyone envision a scenario where Edwards already has told the team who the next coach is?

I can't imagine he would've, simply because there's no way they'd keep it quiet.

I'm just surprised we're not seeing more social media posts about guys thinking about leaving. Maybe Edwards simply convinced them all to wait and give the new coach a chance, whoever he is?

I don't think it's common for a kid to jump ship THIS soon. They loved Hewitt, I'm sure, but I think players in this situation usually meet the new coach before announcing they are leaving. Hancock was quick to leave but did he leave this soon?
