Can GoMason broadcast the game on FB live? That would be awesome. Anyone here have any say in something like that? All you need is an iPhone and internet for a rough broadcast.

That would be cool. Are they allowed to broadcast exhibitions?

I don’t see why not as they show college football spring games on TV.

We aren't allowed to broadcast or even talk about our scrimmages, as opposed to exhibitions, so wonder if there is a similar rule in place.

Maybe look into whether the team they are playing has a broadcast?

Spain is such an archaic dogshit country. Did anyone see how the cab drivers gridlocked a lot of the country just cause they don't like Uber? I wonder if our players will be able to get to the appropriate venues on time.

I'm so ashamed our president is from that backwards place.

Anyway, so excited our players are getting the basketball experience. I also hope some of them are able to also hook up with some Spanish hotties despite what will undoubtedly be a pretty rigid curfew.

When I was in Madrid in 2005 there was a taxi strike which made getting back to the hotel from the bars/clubs very very difficult. One night after leaving one club and waiting in line to get in the other, I decided I did not need any more clubbing for the night and left my group in search of a taxi.

Typically I have a pretty good sense of direction, so I just kept walking in what I believed to be the direction of our hotel (directly south from the center of Madrid) figuring I would find a ride or eventually just end up at our hotel after a few miles.

At one point, I hopped a small wall so that I could continue in the direction I was headed. Shortly thereafter I found myself completely surrounded by a 10 foot tall chain link fence with barbed wire at the top, in a type of small courtyard lit up by spotlights. How I ended up surrounded by chain link fence without climbing over or passing through any chain link fence remains a mystery.

Believing that I may now be in a prison courtyard, I chose a poorly lit corner and began unraveling the chain link fence from the bottom up until I could army crawl through the opening. To this day, every time I pass a chain link fence I look at the bottom and take comfort in the fact that I could create a hole and pass through it if necessary (literally had the thought on Friday walking my dog in an Arby's parking lot).

After my first successful prison escape, I kept walking until I saw a sign for the University of Madrid. While I did happen to be on a study abroad trip, the University of Madrid was not my destination and only served to alert me to the fact that I had been walking northwest, instead of south, and was now twice as far away from my hotel as when I started.

Now that I had my bearings, I course corrected and eventually found a cab as the sun came up. I arrived at my hotel just in time to greet my classmates as they were coming down from their rooms to go to our 8am class in one of the hotel's conference rooms. They were all relieved that I was alive and no longer in prison.

Luckily for me, on the first day of class I had chosen a seat in the very front row, directly in front of our professor, which would end up being my assigned seat for the remainder of the trip. I arrived just as class started, still wearing my going-out outfit from the night before with fresh dirt and grass strains down the front from my prison escape for what would end up being the most difficult struggle to keep my eyes open of my life, while sitting about 5 feet directly in front of our professor, for the next 2.5 hours of class.

Got an A in the class.

I don't personally think you are a hero but this is a perfect example of why many people do regard you as a hero.

The Ole Miss basketball twitter account just replied to a question and said two of their games up in Canada are going to be streamed, so it looks like it can be done.
Kentucky foreign tour was telecast by SEC Network.

Yes but that is Canada this is dogshit Spain.
Jollay, I'm normally on board with your posts, and An-hel notwithstanding, I took my daughter, who btw in case you missed it will be running for the Green and Gold this year, to Spain for a HS graduation trip and it was awesome. I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the country. And the Uber drivers we called were great!

hmmmm ... Maybe we are partly to blame for the taxi strike ... nah, capitalism rules!

What type of competition are we seeing on this trip? Hopefully better than a pickup game at the local YMCA. I’m guessing somewhere between D2-D3 schools and slightly below average A10 quality?

Obviously there’s a lot of value to this trip beyond the competition, but I’m jw.

From what I've seen over the years, the US college teams usually smash the teams they play against, so probably closer to DII or DIII level of competition.

Isn't Spain one of the better leagues, though? I doubt anyone is playing particularly hard for exhibitions anyway.

By the way, Reuter's beard game is pretty strong on the team pic on the GoMason landing page. Is there a Fear the Beard 2.0 shirt opportunity in our future?

No idea, was just commenting in general, I'm sure there are exceptions and I doubt the US teams never lose/win every game by blowout. I think we won our first game by 10 or so.
