I hate that this idea is no where near Title IX compliant but wish we would just say f*ck it. Let’s do it. We would need to cut 3 men’s programs and probably add a women’s team. I’d propose cutting men’s golf, tennis, and swimming while adding field hockey. Zero chance that would happen though.

I hate how big of a waste of time this idea is and yet every year we still kick it around like it would ever work. I hate that we can't just embrace the fact that we are a basketball school and be happy being a basketball school, even after we made it into a top 8-9 conference with multiple bids every year, and it's not going to cost us a $70, $80, $100 million athletics budget to be relevant.

To stay in the thread, I “hate” the idea. I think the men’s swim team has about 3 full scholarships total that they split up. So doubt that’s gonna make a dent in finding scholarships for a whole football team.

I hate that people who hate Mason stay at Mason. If you hate the school, LEAVE.

I hate that people still expect the school to entertain them, e.g. the comments about nothing to do on weekends. You think it's dead in weekends now, let's go back to 1984-88. There really was nothing going on, except for Ladies Night at the Rat, and Fraternity Parties, and Sports events, and Jorge's (now Brion's), and Muggs/Fat Tuesdays, and cheap movies, and etc., etc., etc. (said in the voice of Yul Brenner - go look it up). The bottom line is the school isn't going to hold your hand and ask if you're having fun yet. Go make your own fun and all of a sudden there will be plenty to do on the weekends.

I hate that others aren't having the best time of their lives at Mason, like my rising Sophomore daughter is. She's LOVES Mason and enjoys her time there. The survey didn't cross her view, why? She's having too much fun to concern herself with trivial crap looking for the bad things in life.

A fully funded men’s soccer team is 9.9, 11.7 from baseball. Not sure how many you’d capture from wrestling and volleyball, but you still aren’t getting close to parity for adding football even eliminating all of those sports (tennis, swimming, golf, soccer, baseball, wrestling, volleyball) without also still adding more women’s teams.

And, yes DJ3, having an athletics department playing division 1 basketball with no football, especially one that spend more than $3.5 million a year on the program, makes us a basketball school whether we want to acknowledge, support, or embrace it.

Rhode Island didn’t stop being a basketball school just because they didn’t make the tournament for 15 years. Duquesne is still a basketball school despite not having been since 1977. DePaul is a basketball school despite not having been since 2004. Seton Hall between 2006-2016. St Johns.

I hate that people don't realize that those of us who TRIED to have a good time on weekends only got an underage possession of alcohol charge and kicked out of campus housing.

That's a systemic issue.
