GIVING DAY 2023
In case anyone was wondering - if you are currently donating to the Friends of Men's Basketball, those donations will not be used toward the practice facility. Only donations specifically earmarked for the practice facility will be used for the practice facility.

Yes, use the "Other"box, and enter the facilities project you want to donate to, for example:
  • Basketball Facility Improvement Fund
  • Baseball Stadium Renovation Fund
If you are worried about confirming whether your money went to the right place, just wait for the donation confirmation that comes in the mail. If that shows the correct info, then that's where your money went.

Damn. Was hoping they'd show a few renderings of the addition to the RAC. At least the video is fixed.

Agreed - but I am just happy that they have publicly stated a specific objectives, goals and the need for donations and specific contact information and links to make said donation. That is all I ever wanted -- simple.

Made my first of three donations. Look forward to seeing this happen.

What's the link for that? I don't typically go on any fundraising pages or even know where to look.

Edit: I actually will never donate to a charity or an NPO. Only basketball courts or to the rowing team.

Can someone explain to me why it's so hard for the university to get money for this? How did vcu do it so easily? Was that mostly donor money?

Not sure what you mean. The first attempt failed because Merten didn't let TOC do what Edwards is doing now. And from what I understand, the AD wasn't even going to start a public campaign unless they got enough corporate money to see an end goal. It took vcu several years to get the money, this is year one for us.

I am so excited for Mason Giving Day, which falls on April 6th of this year! Not to incur jealousy, but Mason just sent me a postcard saying I can even give BEFORE THAT if I want!!

It will be hard to decide which project to give to!! I mean, the practice facility will rock, but the baseball improvements are much cheaper and are years behind schedule!!! What to do???

And of course there's the academic side of the house. All I know is, the big tax return my family and I are getting will be going to GMU and only GMU! Woooooookhooooo!!!!

I just joined the conversation on social media!

Sorry to inform our conference rivals, but the conversation can only be described as lively!

We need a slogan for Giving Day. Kudos for Jim Nantz suggesting "a tradition like no other."

(If you're wondering, Jim has been on our jock since 2006, when he poo-pooed our at-large bid.)

Hey, maybe we can get this guy to help with our Giving Day campaign, between his diaper changes and oatmeal at the Old Folks Home of course.

Absolute absurdity.

If you want to give athletes priority scheduling, the newer dorms, some tutors and dedicated practice facilities...great.

But this for just atheletes? Complete foolishness.

And to also argue...the "amenities" I have seen added for general students in places is also absurd.

People wonder why tuition goes up? It's because it takes alot of money to run this type of BS. And this BS is all to attract and keep the government money train of student loans for "higher education."

Everything from the floor, countertops, chairs, sofas, recliner chairs, and tables must be high end, 1st class luxury. We need to spoil our players with lots of very high end, world class, 5 star, expensive things. If we want to be the best, we gotta have the best.

Just look at this video by Duke Basketball and their nutrition room:

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ymf381s1CuA

I want our facilities to be even better than Duke and Kentucky's stuff.
