Well, I don't admire the person who donated as "Hewitt's Mom."
Yeah, as somebody who lost his mother in the last two years, I thought that was way over the line.

I thought the "Hewitt's Mom" donation was hilarious. At least that person put a little bit of money where his or her mouth is and did it with some humor. If we can't do things because someone, somewhere on the planet may have had some sorrow in the last two years, there will be little to no comedy on this planet.
From those with little sense of humor, the do nothing crowd that criticizes any attempt at a replace Hewitt movement, apathy towards trying to make sure the AD knows where we stand and the clueless fans that still don't see it is Hewitt, I have come to the sad conclusion that our fan base does not deserve a new coach (the players do...).
I am not sure what is actually in it for the AD to stick it's neck out to replace him. If Hewitt gets replaced at the end of season, it will be pure luck.
My mother died recently too, but I don't come on here looking for sympathy and I don't expect all jokes involving a mother to end as well. The self importance of some people is amazing...Include me on the list whose mother died recently and do not find it "hilarious". Nor, should anyone be impressed with using the name of alumni association without its permission. If the school needs money to terminate Hewitt's contract, then the fundraising effort should be planned and coordinated in a legal and proper manner.

If I recall the site correctly (can't see it any more since the gestapo had it taken down..) it did not pretend to be representing the alumni association. It clearly stated that it was setup by that individual and the donations were going to the Alumni Association. It was not a perfect implementation, but I applaud him for his efforts.
I wish we had more fans like him.
Pablo being purposely dense again just to make an argument... Well, I am giving you the credit for doing it on purpose since you seem to be able follow things easily elsewhere on here. If you are actually that dense, I apologize. The site was clearly representing that the funds were going to a certified charity, i.e., the alumni association. This was certainly an improper representation given that these were neither charitable contributions for educational purposes, nor funds solicited by the alumni association. Frankly, I can't understand your logic.
As I said, if fundraising for the purpose of terminating Hewitt's contract is initiated, then it should be done legally and properly.
So to recap, no one can crack jokes involving moms because Pablo and Tom have lost a mother.
You know as well as I do that Mason would never do that. I have it on good authority that the only reason he was not replaced after last year was finances. So, the only reason not to do it this year would be finances because he sure has done a lot better...wijg,
Allow me to explain the appropriate process as clearly as possible. If the school administration needs the funds to buy out the remaining year of Hewitt's contract, then it needs to convey this to the people who have the resources, expertise, and commitment to make it happen legally and properly.
I'm sure that many of us would contribute to this effort. But, it must be done properly. At this point, I'm unaware that the school administration has conveyed the need to raise funds for this purpose.
I think you are being shortsighted and/or don't understand human nature. If the school gets the same amount of money even while making bad decisions (or doesn't make good ones) they will never change their behavior. I don't know of anyone who has stopped or plans to stop donating that has said they won't start doing so when Hewitt is gone. It is basically telling the school they will pay them to replace Hewitt. I applaud those that do it, and I will be one of them this coming year if he is not gone. That will only further the chances he is gone sooner, rather than later. The only thing I have disagreed with is those who say they are going to stop donating as a protest, not because it's not their right to do so but because I think it hurts more than it helps.

Mason would never say they don't have the money, either. So, you have created a nice catch 22. The school will never do something along those lines, and the fans can't either. Ah, you must be the leader of the do nothing crowd...
In 2006, Mason spent $12.6M on athletics. In 2013, they spent $22.1M.speaking of money, how much was athletic dept funding increased in relation to the increased growth of enrollment? In addition, where did the 6 or 7 million or more dollars go that was earned from tourney units over the past decade. Im prob wrong, but i feel like our budget doesnt reflect ncaa tourney checks, but increased student fees from increased enrollment and lobbying. Thus, where is the tourney cash?
