Baby steps—a sound policy.

How did THEY find me? I established an "in" with the AD before the game and fully communicated my plan and provided them contact info. I didn't want to be viewed as subversive. It was only after the game that the Mason Fan Cheer Guide was fully perused by them and an agreement was made to let the Guide rest until next season.

I hope I didn't just fall into a "catch-n-kill" trap. We'll see.

Just a guess, but if you just had the text on a sheet of paper and passed those out, you might have been ok... but when you start putting official Mason logos on it, it opens up a whole new can of worms and could look like it is affiliated with the school which they obviously wouldn’t want.

Oh well, hopefully you have better luck than I did years ago when I wanted to donate iPads to the team so they could watch game film quickly/easily. While the staff was all for it, administration wanted no part of it - first it was a title IX issue, but when I offered the girls team too, they kept making excuses on why it would be difficult instead of developing solutions on how to make it happen. Hopefully things have changed with the new leadership.

To be fair, the Oregon Nike guy is a billionaire and dropped 8 figures on their athletics department. I’m sure if we cut a check for 50 million, they’d let us donate iPads to the basketball team

WOW. Now that's outside the box.

As Brian stated, this would've took years to be vetted by the Mason AD and by the time and by some miracle it did get approved, the bacon would've already ended up in countless salads, arteries and Chakenstank Chalupas.
