Hartwell played well in this game.

Does anyone else think we should have been playing zone as our base defense for the last 4 seasons at least? The last time we had a guard who could defend the perimeter out of man was Marquise (used to think Javon was going to be that guy, but he's lost it).
YES. I literally just said this. Our guards looked 110% more comfortable in the zone. It pulls AJ into a weird position but the team as a whole looked better.

Greene’s mom isn’t exactly hiding her feelings
Yeah she’s not pulling any punches. Sucks to see after a win but her comments on guys as they go from freshman to seniors under Paulsen might not be that far off...

What did Greene do to get benched?

I feel like DP treats seniors badly for some reason. Either runs em into the ground, (otis) or cuts their playing time looking ahead to the next guy. How many of his players finished as seniors here? Someone posted less than a hand full. Too lazy to look up. Pablo u there?

Watching that baseball pass I thought we finally found a dance partner that has about the same amount of basketball IQ.

All seriousness, that win was awesome. We don't know what's gonna happen with this season so I'm gonna try to enjoy the wins just as much as I rage at the losses. Good for the boys for fighting like hell, good for Jamal, Jordan, and Kolek in particular for carrying the team when we needed it most. Also good for Polite for not trying to do anything he couldn't do in his minutes and getting a game-saving assist on one of those Hartwell 3s.

For Javon, either be here or don't. Only guy not celebrating during play and now his mom is spouting off on twitter. Figure it out.
What’s her twitter handle!

Didn’t use all 4 years of eligibility here though which is what I thought you were getting after here.

Yeah, Kier, Grayer, and Reuter (Reuter special case, because I think he stopped playing basketball altogether) all graduated, but had eligibility left when they left.

If we are talking about everyone, not just his recruits, that would also include Marko, Shevon, Marquise, and Jalen. But still: 5 guys in 6 seasons isn't a good track record.

Best game of his career. He has had far more bad games than good in his career. Has still yet played a halfway good defensive game on his career. Thank god for him tonight but let’s slow our roll.

The reality is there isn’t a great offensive or defensive PG on this roster right now. Jamal, who is a decent ball handler but below average distributor of the ball (he had one assist tonight), is essentially a shooting guard in a small PG’s body. I get that he can be frustrating, but he deserves a ton of credit for how he played tonight.

I know I should celebrate the win. But Paulsen is a horrible coach. The only praise he deserves is that he runs a clean program. But the majority of his recruits choose to leave him.

The best players under DP’s tenure were Hewitt’s recruits. From all accounts Moore, Shevon, and Jenkins were great off the court as well. The only praise Paulsen deserves is that he runs a clean program. Unless I’m missing something, so did Hewitt. Time to move on.

Yes, roster turnover has been a problem with just 1 Paulsen recruit completing his eligibility at Mason so far. But, none of the recruits have been academically ineligible. And, they all seem to graduate from some college (except for Relvao who turned pro), so we should commend him for this.

Regardless, all Mason fans should be happy after an A10 road win, particularly following the terrible loss to Norfolk State.

I don’t disagree that I want mason to move on as well, but one thing I admire is when I see Paulsen teams fight like hell on the court to do everything possible to get a w like today. He’s not the best coach, we don’t have the best players, but when I see it all left on the court, I’m proud to root for that. For tonight I’m pleased, but long way to go before my mind changes. One game at a time.

Great team win. Greene is GMU's best scorer. Hopefully he gets his head on straight.
