We are really missing 2-3 bigs. Reuter wont be enough next year. He cant do it alone. Transfers needed.

Paulsen has already said we aren't going back to a double post offense, so I'm not sure why you think we need 4-5 players for one position.

Next year our starting lineup with most likely be Otis, Kier, Grayer, Mar, Reuter at the 1-5.

Reuter and Calixte at the 5 is plenty considering we'll have Mar and Wilson at the 4 and seven guards rotating through the other three spots.

You’re right. We need a starting lineup of Calixte, Reuter, Mike Mo, Relvao and Dixon. We’re totally f*cked otherwise.

Really dude. EVANS, Claixte, Mike Mo, Leighton Henry, Konate is more like it.

Exactly where we are at this season with 8 scholarship players and 4 freshman playing big minutes

Agree, but this lack of depth/player departure, feels like a first year thing. We shouldn't be struggling in that dept in year 3. I would of rather lost every game in year 1, playing with walk ons, instead of wasting a recruiting cycle on Dixon and the like.

I totally hear you. Thankfully the A10 is going to suck this year so we will be around .500 hopefully in conference.

I think Relvao and Temara were legitimate misses. I still don't understand why Newman left (he'd be playing almost 30 mpg right now if he were still around).

The way I see next year's depth chart shaking down (keeping in mind the arbitrary nature of putting freshmen somewhere):

PG: Otis/Kier/Greene
SG: Kier/Boyd/Parker-Douglas
SF: Grayer/Boyd/Mar/Miller
PF: Mar/AJ
C: Reuter/Calixte/AJ

If no one transfers, gets injured or kicked off the team in the offseason, our freshman will finally be on the court only when they earn it and we shouldn't be asking for big contributions from any of them.

Minor correction: the incoming guard is Douglas-Stanley.

But agreed, this SHOULD be the first time DP has the luxury of letting the freshmen be freshmen and develop in practice instead of needing them to play meaningful minutes.

Assuming the depth chart still looks like this next summer, Miller should strongly consider a redshirt to get stronger, expand his shooting range and preserve his eligibility for the post-Grayer years.

At least that's what I would do.

It sure seems disappointing. If just one of Paulsen's bigs panned out, we would be a much different team this year. Calixte looks light years ahead of Troy and Dixon as a freshman. So I have faith he will be the real thing in due time. Just wish we had a player like him a few years ago to play behind shevon and jalen, and could step up and play this year.

I sure hope Reuter is the real thing.

I'm more concerned with the D than the O at this point. I'd like to see another big banger down low added for next year. Mar would be even more of a stud offensively if he didn't have to worry about mixing it up on D with guys who have 50 pounds and maybe an inch or two on him.

He's a legit a10 big. I watched him at UVA quite a bit. He exactly splits the difference between Jai Lewis and will Thomas. Maybe not quite as good as either one of them, but nifty around the hoop, with soft hands and good feet.

He won't be a rim protector, but he also won't get backed down.

Not athletic, but strong. He'll be our best big in a while.

Transfers are not part of the program. During half-time of the LaTech game, Bill Rohland interviewed Brad Edwards. The subject of recruiting and constructing a team came up. Brad is a firm believer of "staying out if free agency, build through the draft—the right way to put together a team." (Brad's words).

You have to think that Brad and Coach P share a strong understanding regarding the concepts of what type of team they want and how to put it together. Mason might land a transfer here and there, but I wouldn't count on it too often.

Reuter can shoot as well. Wasn’t used that way at UVA but supposedly can hit from a far.

I agree with both Brad and Dave. But if you can snag a P5 player, you do it. Dave was pretty stoked about Reuter.

When you have major misses in recruiting, especially all to do with same position basically, you have no choice. Do you think Rueter would of landed here had Temara, Dixon and Revalo been worth a damn?

Now that the program culture is in place, I wouldn't be surprised to see DP be more active in adding transfers who can address an immediate need and are a good fit on and off the court.

Nothing too crazy, though. This is not a coach who is going to put up with a bunch of nonsense from 18-to-22-year-olds to try and win a couple extra games.
