Jim, the rotations are awful. Kier doesnt start but plays 34 mins. He isnt good enough not productive enough for 34 mins. Greene cant shoot. Calixte needs to play behind Reuter, AJ at 4, grayer at 3 with mar backing him up. Makes no sense he doesnt play grayer more. Or jds when we suck at shooting treys.

This is starting to look like a coaching problem.

The defense or lack of drives me crazy. I know it’s easier said than done but with all the easy drives to the basket we give up I’d like to see our guys getting in front and taking the charge. Let the bodies hit the floor.

It’s a coaching and playing problem. It truly takes a village to screw up the start of a season as badly as this one has been. And it will take them all to get this thing turned around and going in the right direction.

They have 7 more games to figure sh!t out.

So here’s something totally out of the box: Let’s go full court press to start the game. If we have more depth (even though it’s not good depth so far), use it. We get blown by for layups anyway. 4 guys up and let AJ protect. Bring Reuter off the bench.

Good idea. Start on an aggressive note and stay in that mode.

At large is out of the question, so we have until Feb to figure this out, and we'll need every minute of it. I still believe this team has the talent to be good, but clearly the game plan going into this season is completely wrong. This is a "back to the drawing board" scenario, and as I see it we need to implement a totally new approach and then spend the next two months perfecting it. Hopefully we see gradual improvements, and then by tourny time we have a good team.

If you want any chance of winning the A-10 tournament, a top-4 finish and double bye is a must. Whatever is ailing this team must be fixed by the first conference game, preferably sooner.

Good idea. Start on an aggressive note and stay in that mode.

I always thought vcu did a good job of masking their problems by running an overly aggressive press for 49 straight minutes, and however many easy baskets you give up along the way are mitigated by all the easy baskets you get by forcing so many turnovers.

vcu has not been a good half court team in a long time, but they stayed relevant turning every basketball game into a rugby match.

I don’t think our roster was built to effectively press full-court the entire time, but we are not a good halfcourt team right now either. Mixing full-court pressure with halfcourt traps couldn’t be any worse than the predictable mess we’ve shown through the first six games.

Should of stayed in the defense we played last 3 years. Pack line and rebound emphasis. We dont have the talent to play this straight man to man. Who can Otis guard? Kier? Both turnstiles. No rim protector, which makes current defense an even more terrible idea. And it's clear after 6 games. Question is why didn't the staff see this earlier?

Then again, they prob saw JDS's pics and realized oh shit, better play this kid before he Newmans us. Sharp group.

Bigger problem than guards who get beat off the dribble is the zero help defense that happens afterward.

Cincinnati with an impressive late lead over Ole Miss.

They may not have looked impressive offensively against us but their defense is akin to UVA. Ugly wins with long athletic players mucking up the game.

Cincinnati rolled Ole Miss 71-57. Cumberland with 25. I don't think we should feel too terribly bad about this one, all things considered. I think we actually hung with Cincy a little longer than Ole Miss did.

I don’t feel better, just means we missed a chance to win an early season tournament. Cincy wasn’t good.

To someone else’s point, there’s no way Greene and Kier should get a combined 55+ min a game when they are basically the same player and have our best 3pt shooter and at one point a very good rebounder on the bench. Continues to baffle me.

Also, if we didn’t let the Penn, American, Georgia Southern and Baylor games slip away from us.

G Mas didn’t “hang” at all. Let’s be clear here folks.
