Well, Coach Paulsen is the ultimate insider...

There was a time when homecoming was in the fall and it was tied to soccer games. It totally makes sense for it to be tied to basketball. I've always wanted homecoming to be earlier in the season (whether that is on a Saturday in November or late January/early Feb.) Its our biggest game attendance wise. Lets say somebody is attending on Saturday for the first time ever or in a long while. Maybe they have a great time. How many more home games we have left for them to attend? 2. How many home Saturday games do we have left? Zero.Well, maybe if they had homecoming in October like the majority of schools that have an enrollment of over 30,000 students they wouldn't have to have it in the absolute worst month on the calendar?
Sorry. Couldn't resist.

What if Homecoming was Saturday, November 10th?
Instead of playing AU on a Friday, play them (or whomever) the following day. Then we have a full slate of home games we can offer to those fans and build momentum for future games.
Fall homecoming- check
Better weather- check
Tied to school's highest profile sport- check
Ability to try and sell future home game tickets to the "once in a while fan"- check
Is there a downside?

Registered for homecoming in doors. For some reason people seem excited they have television sets but really you can get that in most indoor rooms or bars.
I registered as First Name Jollay Jollay Jollay Last Name Jollay so I hope it actually registered me. Oh well, find out when I get there. I'm definitely registered on Masonhoops, that much I know.
+1 for doing it earlier in the year.
Only downside is the tight window you've got to squeeze homecoming in before the end of the fall semester and start of the spring semester (can't have it during winter break obviously). I'd maybe do it the last home weekend game before Thanksgiving? This year that would have been November 17 vs. Southern. Is that being too competitive with college football homecoming games and the NFL? I don't know.
Otis Livingston II (ankle), Javon Greene(finger) and Ian Boyd (wrist). Greg Calixte (concussion protocol). All four injuries are day-to-day.

Yes, there is a downside. Mid to late February games have the potential to be make-or-break and highly crucial to the season. Also, a November/December HC has to compete with the holiday season. Nah, keep it in February.Downside: makes too much sense

Probably right about homecoming, but I’m pretty sure that’s how college football homecoming is. Very rarely is it against a big team.
But if we set the parameters that November is when it’s going to be, we can maybe do a little bit better than Southern (maybe an old CAA team, or a better mid-major).
Homecoming games should be against teams that are guaranteed wins like American....oh, wait...oops...
