Game 26: #12 ranked St. Louis, Feb 19th, 7 PM, NBCSN

Holloway is fading on me. I still think he is solid and will develop, I just cant ignore the amount of possesions he wastes with quick trigger horrible selection 3's.

I have felt this way about him as well, but I do notice that off ball movement seems to stop when he gets the ball a lot of times. Maybe that is because his teammates know what is usually going to happen . . . he is going to try to get his squeeze in.

What a luxury it would be to have three or four good offensive performances every game. Although we got great performances from Sherrod and Jenkins (and shot a decent 49% collectively from the floor), it was a far cry from St. Louis having all five starters in double figures and shooting 52% overall (despite almost half of their shots coming from behind the arc).

Although I agree with the overall sentiment that our defense — or lack thereof —loses us most of our games, this would have been an entirely different outcome had Allen and Holloway not shot a combined 5-22 (23%). Patrick has taken some poor shots lately, but he missed some wide open looks he usually knocks down in his sleep.

Hewitt's offense doesn't lend itself to getting 4 or 5 guys involved on the same night. Not enough productive ball movement and way too much reliance on one-on-one play -- 1 or 2 guys go off, while everybody else basically watches.

We're basically 3 years in, and we know by now that having a team concept like we used to have under the Elderly Cuban just isn't going to happen.

Opponents have figured out that they need to guard Holloway but they can risk leaving Marko open. That's what changed imho.

I never liked Larranaga's offense that much. Now I pine for it to come back.

Look at what Hewitt has done to this program. Internal fighting amongst fans...our pets heads are falling off!!!

We should probably just go into "serenity now" mode and hope Hewitt gets fired up enough to earn at least one T per game the rest of the way.

Jim, I agree with you about our offensive scheme, but we had four players attempt at least 8 shots last night. I'd say that's spreading the ball around pretty well. Allen has been carrying us of late, so I guess he was due for a clunker (he missed 11 of his 14 shots). Just a shame it came against the #10 team in the country.

I think we might be talking past each other a bit, Tom.

Spreading around the shots is one thing. That's not difficult to accomplish, you just have several different guys looking for their own offense in 1-on-1 scenarios.

Creating quality shots for each other is a much different issue, and one area where we seriously struggle. GW, Dayton and SLU have all put on ball-movement clinics against us -- our base offense seems to be dribble aimlessly, somebody set a high ball screen, and somebody drive 150 mph to the bucket.

I really liked the possession where there were zero passes, and Moore dribbled the ball for about 10 seconds until driving the lane where Copes subsequently was called for a moving screen.

While we can say that is bad scheme of not having any passes, at least Moore tried to create by driving the lane and doing something. He could have pulled a Corey and just picked up his dribble and gave a confused face.

Compltely agree with you here, Jim. We definitely need to get better at getting more open looks instead of forcing so much one-on-one crap. Even on some possessions when we score, we seem to make it so much harder on ourselves than it needs to be.

4,057? Seriously? 4,057? That is unbelievable no matter how bad this team is.

We can't even fill half the joint for a top 10 team. Was this game aggressively promoted in the Washington Post or on campus? It's a fair question. I know Wed. Nights equal night classes or other obligations but it showed on TV and the vcu fans are mocking our fanbase...

Maybe I went over the top with the come crawling back line. I apologize... I really want us to win big. I know we all want that. It's just sad the way this year has gone and the way the fanbase is dividing into warring camps... I enjoy this board and I want us to win. Thanks.

Everyone here wants us to win, but being a blind homer fixes nothing. Heck, sitting on a board complaining fixes nothing. I don't think everyone here is questioning your "fanhood," I just don't think your opinion of Hewitt is too popular. I certainly don't see it.

It's actually pretty believable, if you stop to consider how badly this season has gone and how disgusted the fans have been with Hewitt.

It's obviously not an approach everyone can agree with, but people are speaking volumes by not showing up.

F the stupid front-running vcu fans. When their program was struggling, they played in front of 3-4,000 fans on a routine basis in the 11,000-seat Coliseum. They couldn't pay people to come out and watch their team.

The only ones mocking us are the bandwagon-jumpers who weren't around to suffer through the lean years. Their true fans understand how quickly things can turn from good to bad.

And besides, F vcu. Who cares what they think?
