No pun intended but are you smoking BUD to make this statement: "our staff has shown some ability to help guys develop their skills individually". Like I said I know this game and the who's...who in the game and like I stated these assistant coaches aren't respected as skill set developers in the D1 coaching business....If not for Hewitt these assistant coaches wouldn't have a job as an assistant coach in D1 bball......FACT.

I thought you said that you were out, or done with this or some sort of version of that? Yet you are back?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Copes has no moves on the low post and lacks basic fundamentals. With his size he really should be able to put up at least 8 and 8 each night. My question is (and its a serious one), what exactly does his Uncle do and what are his coaching strengths supposed to be? It seems like all of our big men have regressed, although I do like J2's moves at times and Marko shows flashes but that has more to do with his European style than anything this coaching staff has done. It seems the only thing our big men are good at is committing stupid fouls and giving up easy layups. Since we all know Hewitt probably isn't going anywhere, if we are going to make a change then that is the first place we need to start. Get rid of Houston and bring someone in who can get our big men to develop at least 1 move down low, get them to not leave their feet on defense, and box out..basically someone who knows the fundamentals of the game.

I want Houston gone as well. Copes is not going sit out a year for his senior season and go elsewhere. There are times I watch the bench more than the game itself to see their energy level and other things. We knew Copes wasn't a scorer coming into Fairfax, and was known as a shot blocker, but backing into an opponent is basic fundamentals (when you have the size to do that).

One thing I recall from when Larranaga was here, every single media timeout or if a team takes a full timeout, Larranaga would walk on the court with his assistants, huddle for about 15 seconds, and then go to the bench and talk to team. I don't see that here, and I don't understand why.

Look DUMBAZZ, if you plan on continuing to peddle your DUMBAZZ SHIZZ around this hood, you best direct it to somebody else.

The fact that you need to constantly remind us about how much you KNOW THIS GAME, shows exactly how little you actually know.

Oh, and your handle is nothing to brag about. AAU basketball is a DUMBAZZ joke. If you think you're impressing anyone, think again.

FACT. I'M OUT. RACK ME, BIYOTCH.

Like GSII and Five Two have said on many occasions, this team is still in desperate need of a PG. Moore could be that guy if he develops his shot, but he truly is the only option on this roster.

Corey seems like a good kid, but when you are still picking up your dribble at the top of the key and having to burn a timeout after three seasons, you tend to wonder if the ship has sailed on him getting it. Moore still makes many freshman mistakes, but I'm hoping this baptism-by-fire experience will make him that much stronger the rest of his career (even if it is as a backup).

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but Allen's 3 at the end of the 1st half made the SC Top 10, so that's kind of cool.

Also, I've seen many people discuss how Moore/Corey pick up their dribble too much. THIS WHOLE TEAM PICKS UP THEIR DRIBBLE WAY TO MUCH. So many times someone will be at the top of the key, take 1 dribble, pick it up, and now the other team has the advantage...it drives me nuts.

Also, I think we would have won last night if it wasn't for Marco's terrible turnover after a steal (which immediately led to a basket for SLU) and then Marco's missed layup on the other side immediately following. A classic 4 point swing

I do this a lot too just to see whats going on, and I always notice the bench is up and cheering. I've also noticed Hewitt has become a LOT more animated the last few games. I thought he said something ridiculous to get the technical but of course it was something lame he did that somehow got called.

I also noticed that when Hewitt got the technical, the team huddled at half court which was nice to see. Allen tries hard to direct and lead the team, but it obviously hasn't been enough this year.

I noticed that as well. St. Louis did the same thing.

What a luxury it would be to have three or four good offensive performances every game. Although we got great performances from Sherrod and Jenkins (and shot a decent 49% collectively from the floor), it was a far cry from St. Louis having all five starters in double figures and shooting 52% overall (despite almost half of their shots coming from behind the arc).

Although I agree with the overall sentiment that our defense — or lack thereof —loses us most of our games, this would have been an entirely different outcome had Allen and Holloway not shot a combined 5-22 (23%). Patrick has taken some poor shots lately, but he missed some wide open looks he usually knocks down in his sleep.

Holloway was trying to create his own shot several times by driving the lane and not passing the ball when he probably should have. I really wonder if one of the assistants counts the number of passes per possession and figures out the average, then look at the opponents average.

I really liked the possession where there were zero passes, and Moore dribbled the ball for about 10 seconds until driving the lane where Copes subsequently was called for a moving screen.

Also, I'm not sure why anyone would hate on Moore for not shooting jumpers in game situations, when it's obviously not his role on this team.

Where I come from, that's not considered "lacking confidence" or any such nonsense. It's called smart basketball and playing to your strengths.

The kid is a freshman, a late signee who has stepped into the starting lineup and played pretty damn well, and we're gonna kill him? Seriously, this board is even too negative for me sometimes.

This.

We have a bad habit of having a freshman show a little potential or maybe has a good outing and scores a dozen points in his fifth or sixth outing. All of a sudden he's a future George Evans or Cam Long. By the end of the year, if he's still playing like a Freshman, or by Sophomore year he's not all conference there's a tendency to start killing him.

The kid - and at 18 or 19 that's what he still is - hasn't played even one full season yet. Cut him a little slack.
