Good recruiting game too- beating an in state rival on the road, prime time evening game on national tv, and during Feb when people really start to pay attention to college ball. As opposed to our loss to them which was a noon (?) game on a Sunday during football season..

Honestly, vcu should root for us constantly. We blazed the trail for them to get to the Final Four and you have to figure when we come back, it raises their ceiling again as well.

Gosh, really don't care at all if we stay mediocre though as long as we keep winning in front of their cretin fan base.

agree 100% we beat this year: JMU, ODU, vcu, Loyola (MD), UMBC, Navy, Longwood, AU.....local recruits should be paying close attention. Icing on the cake would be a win against GW this weekend.

Wow -- Was great to be pleasantly surprised for once! And in front of those trash fans on national tv, bwahahaha!

We haven’t seen this team since Mexico! Let’s hope we have the legs and poise to keep it up.
Did Mexico take control over the Caymans?

Congrats to AJ on breaking the blocks record. But I had him with 6 blocks.
At 19:06 in the first half MSS takes a shot, gets blocked by Oduro, gets his own rebound and then gets his 2nd shot blocked by AJ. The initial ruling was a block by Oduro on the first shot and no block by AJ on the 2nd shot. That was then changed to AJ getting the block on the first shot and nothing on the 2nd shot: https://gomason.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2019-20/vcu/boxscore/10549. AJ didnt block the first shot, obviously, but at least he gets credit for a block. Oduro got screwed.

Then on the last play of the first half MSS takes a shot, Oduro and AJ swat at it and the ball comes up way short. It doesnt look like Oduro came close but AJ clearly deflects the ball, IMO. No block was credited to anyone.

Yes, yes, they did. You were on a need-to-know basis, so I was waiting for the proper time to notify you. I'm sorry you had to hear about it in this forum.

Damn where has that team been the last two months?
We match up with vcu on paper a lot better than most teams, despite the gap between us record wise. MSS is their dominant big at what? 6'7? With the right performance from the right guys we can beat them (as we clearly saw). The problem with teams like SBU and URI is no matter how good a game AJ has, someones gonna be at least two inches taller than him. As we all noticed the first time we played them, this vcu squad does not look light-years ahead of us athletically like they used to. That's what made that loss suck so much.

I stand by that if AJ didn't pick up a bogus couple of fouls in that first game that it would have been very close down the stretch.

vcu is literally the only quality win there. If we are competing with any of the rest for recruits (except maybe ODU) then we need to step up the type of local guys we are going after.

Beating vcu this season is like the Redskins winning 4 games in a season but 1 of them being against the Cowboys. Always great beating that team.
I agree, it’s always good to beat the local schools but how much does it really help with local recruiting? I doubt it helps much. Definitely doesn’t help as much as it would be to consistently be dancing.
Hopefully Darius saw what a great game his big bro had against them since he holds an offer from both schools.

Which brings up the question, should DP have played AJ even when he picked up an early 2nd foul? AJ almost has to be on the court.
