Well if he was Vishnu, that wouldn't be a problem, would it?

vcu is all-in on athletics and has a dominant position with donors and corporate sponsors in the Richmond market.

Mason is and always will be meh about athletics and is an afterthought in the DC market.

Brad should just cut every sport Mason refused to give adequate funding and infrastructure too and run a leaner athletics department. 30 million would go a lot further with D1 minimum sports.

Long time posters on here know I've been saying this for years. Now seems like a good time to do it.

Which sports would you cut?
That is difficult to say without knowledge of how many scholarships each offers, relative to the max allowed by the NCAA, and what each sport's annual budget is. We need to remain Title IX compliant with whatever decision is made.

If I recall correctly, vcu student fees are $200 more. That makes up the $5m difference in revenue.

So theoretically vcu fees bring in $67.80 per student/per sport. Mason brings in $29.90.

Exactly. In cutting sports as vcu has done, you first need to satisfy the D-I minimum requirements of 14 sports (7 each for men and women, or 6 for the men and 8 for the women) and be title IX compliant as Five Two indicates. Secondly, you need to retain all sports required by the A10 (which I assume are just men's and women's basketball). Thirdly, you retain those sports that you have the resources to compete for championships.

IMO, Mason could easily cut at least 4 sports immediately under this criteria.
