They have better players. Plan and simple. Until we recruit better, we are stuck in 9th and below in A10.

False. Ridiculously so.

They beat us with 2 senior bigs bludgeoning our freshmen.

Beyond that, they showed nothing. We’re gonna own them next season.

vcu 50 - Mason 27 on the glass. Don't know that I've ever seen an a** kicking like that on the glass, home or away. Sigh.

Shots didn’t fall. It happens. It sucks a** when it happens against vcu but it happens. Rebounding is slightly concerning because they aren’t overwhelmingly bigger. End of the day though it seems college kids have a harder time with the week break than than playing on shorter rest (although I’d love to see a statistical break down of that). Next year with them losing Tillman and us gaining Reuter we’ll be fine.

Huge difference in strength between seniors and freshmen, regardless of what the heights and weights say on the roster.

Tillman was gonna get his, but we still win if not for Lane going berserk. He averages 7 and scored 25. Ballgame.

You’re not wrong. But Calixte got bodied a bit. He’s a freshman, so whatever. Not gonna hold it against him. I’m much more concerned with missing wiiiiiide open 3’s.

We seem to anticipate contact and when it doesn’t come we look silly. Airmailed a couple of layups.

When was the last time we only had 11 TOs against vcu and more steals (10 to 3 margin)? We were crushed on the boards, couldn't hit a 3 to save our lives and only lost by 8. Not thrilled by the results, but excited about the promise. Gotta believe in the process.

This was one downright PATHETIC effort by all accounts, don"t let the final score fool you. You rarely win when you give up more than 80. Players who won't put out enough effort to block out and grab a rebound and a coach who won't press when common sense dictates. A BIG FU to all of the Mason season ticket holders in 115 who sold out and gave up Row DD and A to the scum of the Earth. Can't make the game? FU, take your tickets to Brion's, give them to the bartender, and ask that they only be given to Mason fans. Pathetic.

That’s absurd. The announced attendance was 7,028. There were plenty of seats if G Mas fan wanted to attend. Don’t hate on people giving/selling tickets to vcu fan, especially when G Mas fan isn’t interested.

22 offensive rebounds for vcu versus 27 total for us....that's the game right there.

That and the fact that Grayer for whatever reason just cannot shoot the ball unless Otis is also pouring in the points. Someone has to step up and make the plays while Otis is the focus of every defense we see. Otis should have 10 assists per game if the rest of our team would just get the ball into the basket.

Yeah of course Calixte got bodied. Tillman is probably the best big in the A-10. If not him, Cunningham from Dayton.

Hopefully as our program matures we won’t have to rely on freshmen to play in the paint.

A lot of you really keep talking about “next year”. If the Mountain Dew guzzler doesn’t have a strong season next year to include a real post-season tourney, then he needs to be canned.

Agreed on this count. My son and I had 3 obnoxious vcu fans running their mouths two rows behind us and we were in 115 EE.

Way too many visiting fans sitting and being loud in season ticket sections today. Embarrassing by our “fans.”

They got quieter after I told one I was gonna go back there and put my fist in his eye, though. :D

Face it, our boys got pushed around like little baby Bubba in his stroller on a Sunday afternoon walk with mamma to the park. Well, ok, not like that. But, you know what I mean.

It does amaze me that if Mason hits 3 more 3's out 16 misses or doesn't whiff on 5 layups then we were right there in the game. Then again, a few rebounds would have helped as well. In summation, vcu overwhelmed Mason, but Mason still lost by only 8 points.

We just got completely bullied on the boards, and a lot of that was just a lack of proper positioning and boxing out. Some of it was just luck of the bounce. Was very impressed by Grayer' s rebounding effort, though.

The worst. No idea how they got so many tickets especially in 115. Too many people just don’t care and give to whomever. I try always to find mason fans.

As far as the game goes, mason had a good first half but had a few bad possessions on d that they let dictate on offense. They had to settle down and they couldn’t. By the time the second half rolled around they could scratch and claw at the free throw line.

The rebounding was nuts, but that’s what happens when you have two senior bigs in the paint. Love the effort from AJ and Mar and Calixte today, but it’s just not going to stop Tillman or Lane. They did a decent job on Tillman for a lot of time but Lane controlled them and both of them whipped them on the boards or 50/50 balls. Threes didn’t fall, which didn’t make it easier either. Grayer tried his best to help on the glass, but none of it was enough.

Have to say the few vcu fans near me behaved, and the few that snuck to our row late in the game got the boot when the usher was summoned, which I made sure to thank the usher for booting them. Small victories like that on a day like today. I won’t miss Tillman or Watanabe and look forward to AJ and Greg and Jared bullying guys in the post and on the glass.

Onto the next one.

I think everyone is forgetting one thing with tickets.

Mason changed their policy this year where seats that are not bought by season ticket holders are fair game to the public. Tickets are $45, $25, and $15 now. The $45 seats are in the lower part of the arena where most of the season ticket holders are. If I were a vcu fan, and looked at the schedule the day it was released, realized this game falls on a Saturday, I would have bought tickets as soon as possible, to get good seats.

Without looking it up, I don't remember the last time vcu came to Fairfax on a Saturday. There were weeknight games where over 5,000 would show for vcu. Face it, they travel well, and when you hear their vcu chants off and on through the game, that says something.

It was sad that there were scoreboard problems in the early stages of the game. I would think this would have been a first game issue, not this deep into the season.

Regarding the game itself, you can't teach height, but Calixte being in foul trouble didn't help matters in terms of rebounding. There have been games this season where we have hit at least 8 three's, and had that happened today, we win.

This is what vcu has coming in for next year: http://verbalcommits.com/schools/vcu
