I'm a G Mas alum, but I don't hold the same angst for vcu that so many on this board spew incessantly. I have just assumed, and accepted, that it has a lot to do with our lack of success against your Rams in the CAAT so many times.

Heywood was the guy that always wanted to fight, not Ramon, right?...there was one thread where it was confusion over "where to meet" between two people. That was the best.

I remember one time where Heywood was on good terms with a GMU poster (forgot who) and PM'd him saying he was going to be at a game and wanted to meet up for a couple of drinks before the game.

The Mason poster revealed the contents of the PM where Heywood says something to the effect of:

"Yea bro, let's meet up. I'll be the guy with the ODU shirt who looks like he really works out alot."

And Heywood was serious, not shtick. He was never the same after that.

We have been begging for non homecoming tailgates, we got it. We have been begging for a competitive team, we got it. They're scrappy. They're far from being a "good" team, and lack size, depth, and experience, but they're on their way, at least in my opinion. The biggest change is cultural, which would be hard to notice from an outside perspective. Coach Paulsen has changed the culture of the program, and it will take some time to find consistent success. Although I think the team has the chance to be pretty good next season if some of the young players develop as hoped/expected. We have no seniors, so the full roster is back, and we have a UVA transfer eligible in the frontcourt, which has been our biggest need.

As for this season, hey, we're still 3-4 in conference, with only one loss at home, and the road loss to Duquesne ended in double OT. Considering the lack in depth, size, and experience, they're doing pretty damn well.
