"Holloway Loves A-10 Play
Rashaan Holloway increased his productivity during the opening eight games of Atlantic 10 play to the tune of 13.8 points, 7.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per league contest. It makes him one of only three players in the Atlantic 10 to rank in the top-20 for points, rebounds and blocks through A-10 play on Wed., Jan. 25, alongside Davidson's Peyton Aldridge and St. Bonaventure's Denzel Gregg. He is the only one of the three to do so with a top-10 field goal percentage (.632).

He is second in field goal percentage (.632), third in the A-10 during conference-only games in blocks per game, is eighth in rebounds per game, ninth in offensive rebounds per game (2.3), 10th for defensive boards (5.1) and 17th for points per game.

Holloway had double-doubles at George Mason (17 points, 10 rebounds) and vcu (22 points, 11 rebounds). Holloway scored double-figures in six of eight games, with 10 vs, Fordham, 14 in the win over Dayton, 15 vs, St. Bonaventure and 20 at Rhode Island."

Updated conference-only stats. Marquise carrying the team, Otis struggling to score, Jaire weirdly ineffective inside the arc:

If Kellogg has ever explained why this UMass team plays the way they do I'd be really interested in seeing it. Their style of play doesn't fit their personnel whatsoever.

- 26th in the country in pace, but 171st in transition efg%
- 46th in % of shots from 3, but 340th in 3ptfg%

They take a lot of shots at the rim and hit them very well (36th and 81st in the country, respectively), but that begs the question why they don't slow down into more halfcourt sets, especially now that Holloway is breaking out for them. They are exceptionally good defensively (28th in the country) and wouldn't jeopardize that by slowing down into a more traditional style of play.

The nicest thing they could do for us today is bomb away from three since we don't defend the paint that well. Will be interesting to see how they choose to attack us and how we choose to defend. I'm looking forward to round two of the Jenkins-Holloway battle - the first game was a lot of fun. They can both score on each other and are both playing at a high level. Holloway will murder us if Jalen has to sit for long stretches again.

I thought Temarra looked ok in his few minuts so far. Had a nice bucket and almost had a put back

With that fast break dunk I take back everything I've ever said about him.

He's got the tools. He just plays so jittery right now (even on defense you can see his mind going a mile a minute). He's just got to slow down.

I am confident that will come with time and experience.

I do, too. I thought even giving 3 inches and about 70 pounds to Holloway, his one-on-one defense was pretty solid. It's when he's got to follow the ball and switch and switch back and slide over on help defense is when he makes his mistakes.
