I mean this was by far Reuter's best game... still a sieve on defense but dude was highly effective on offense

After the first five minutes, I thought Paulsen did a great job of masking that. Dayton really took advantage of the hole he created guarding on the perimeter and got s lot of easy baskets. We plugged that hole and made it much tougher for them.

Cunningham was on track for 40 points at one point... then they just miraculously stopped giving him the ball lol. Dayton guards were abysmal last night thankfully. Because we had no answer for Toppin or Cunningham... Anthony Grant stopped doing what worked inexplicably.

So Cunningham scores 6 points over the final 34 minutes of the game with Reuter primarily responsible for guarding him as well as hedging every high screen and roll and your response is that he's still a sieve on defense? Yes, they could have gone to him more, but can we not give our own guys any credit?

I would argue is because our defense adjusted and made it hard for them to do what they normally would have done.

Adjustments - go figure.

Cunningham shot the ball 4 times after the first 5 mins of the game... That is a game planning issue. IDC if Bruce Bowen is guarding my best player I am going to find a way to get them the ball against an inferior defender... Yes I certainly blame Anthony Grant for that... I am thankful that the coach is an idiot...

Cunningham shot the ball 2 times from the field the entirety of the 2nd half.....

I mean you watched the game... they refused to pass him the ball and instead chucked up highly contested 3 point shots... That is great Mason game planning but nobody is going to tell me that Reuter deserves to be called a good defender...

I actually would say yes he does - he contributed to two turn-overs - stole the ball from Cunningham in the post right out of his hands. His game has improved and I felt better with him on the court then when he was gone.

He wasn't a sieve on the last stop where Mikesill was the primary option to slash. That was game winning defense.

I probably pay 2 times the amount you do to support the program man.

Oh my, if it isn't the one and only Kathy McKay. I knew you sounded familiar. How is sharing that Miami condo with OCM going?

To me it looks like Reuter plays his best basketball later in games and normally comes out a little off - not sure why or if I'm just imaging it. He didn't seem to be closing off as well early vs Dayton as he did vs Fordham, but by the 2nd half it seemed better.

Our big guys going 4-4 from the line was huge.

To me, the story of the game was Dayton coming out with a great game plan, Paulsen adjusting, and Grant didn't have an answer. I didn't think Grant was a great X's and O's guy at vcu and built his resume on great recruiting and better talent. I was worried when Dayton grabbed him and thought that he probably improved, but it doesn't seem he has. I'll take Paulsen any day of the week over Grant... don't know if I would have said that a few years ago.

Not saying Paulsen is a god or anything, just that he's better than Grant.

I think it's been noted of individual contributions of our Freshmen class with some recent clutch shots/performances, however it was cool to watch the game last night and notice all 3 freshmen on the floor at the same time.

To me that means that Paulsen trusts these 3.

Agree - it was outstanding and they held their own. On each of Hartwell's baskets, I was guilty of saying "no, no - oh GREAT shot!"

In preparation for the game against GW this Saturday - I am going to re-watch this game in my theater room, alone, in the dark, naked and drinking.
