They worked Otis to exhaustion. Multiple subs and switches made his day brutal. One cover had 5” on him.
He also wasn't looking to shoot most of the time because he knew it would get swatted into row F. Even when he did shoot they were floaters just to get them high enough.

Proud of our guys today. They weren't intimidated by their players or the atmosphere. I was really impressed with Kier's penetration, and Grayer took another step toward being one of the top players in the A10.

Sometimes these early games against ranked teams can backfire with a young team, but I really think our players can use use this as a springboard both mentally and physically knowing they can hang with anybody if they stick with the game plan offensively and defensively.

This is true. But when that happens, you have to knock down the shots they give you and he missed the few open looks he had.

I think the entire team ran out of gas at the end, which is what accounted for the margin. But this is a game that next year they'll be able to point to as one that can give them confidence in a tight game against a superior opponent (think Michigan State in 2005).

It seems like the one person we really miss right now is Newman. How many minutes would he have played as the first option off the bench at basically three positions?

I mentioned one of Kier's missed free throws but didn't meant to detract from his overall play. He had a great game and looked very improved this year. Boyd, too. I also think Mar is going to be something very, very special. AJ needs to be a bit more patient.

One question mark about the offseason (how much improvement to expect from Boyd and Kier) has been answered.

We played good but at the end of the day we lost. I'm sure the team is going to be practicing free throws!

Positives:
Grayer has a sweet stroke!
Mar is legit
Kier is a changed man.
Looks like the game has slowed down for Boyd
No way Otis Has many nights like this.
