"...individually, they are not very impressive at all." What a bunch of crap. "...doesn't have 1 or2 stud players." I know these comments are meant to be complimentary, but they are the comments of roboticized minds. There have been no greater studs in the A 10 this year than Jack and Tyler. Peyton isn't there yet but with more consistency will be. And Sully is only an angstrom off. Those statements show how programmed most people are to look at something a certain way, and if it does not meet certain standard parameters that have been pounded into their brains, make inane statements.
Having gotten that off my chest, I agree with WFTC. And the "collectively" statement. The fist is a whole lot stronger than 5 fingers. Even when the fingers individually are strong. And that is what all coaches strive for, but not all achieve. Bob has been able to sell that concept better than most. Young at Wofford has done it well. Matheny is still not there yet. Fox, I think will.

I see what they are saying since they have their Davidson goggles on concerning their team. Yes, they have a solid team. But outside of Davidson fans..... how many fans know much about Tyler Kalinoski averaging almost 17 points a game and Jack Gibbs. These two players are not only the two players we have to worry about on their team. 5 of their players average double figures in points per game. 5! Thats a sound TEAM to me who plays good TEAM ball.

It's amazing that a great coach has great assistants and their team is doing well. I wonder if other teams would want to emulate this novel strategy.

Can anyone recall Hewitt crediting Roland Houston or any other assistant for game preparation?

"Roland Houston is in his fourth season as an assistant coach on the Men’s Basketball staff. His responsibilities include practice and game-day preparation, scouting opponents as well as recruiting and academic duties."

Pat, I would guess, is out for this weekend and perhaps longer. He tweeted back and forth with Jackson and it appeared he wasn't going to play this weekend.

Mario has to pass concussion protocol including going through practices and being "symptom free". He might be fine today and have another issue on Friday. Not even a team doctor could say 100 percent he would play Saturday so not sure how I could.

Lockett is actually getting better by the day but wil redshirt and should have no issues. Pretty clear cut case. Marimba, as stated perfectly above, just has to pass all his classes and the NCAA a should give him all 4 years.
................

Just an update from seeing the team today (Thursday) in the RAC for about 5 minutes in an intrasquad 5 on 5 scrimmage:
-Marko played
-Lockett played
-Marquis was in uniform but on the sideline while Tate was one of the point guards (small sample size but are they resting him due to a minor injury?)
-Patrick was nowhere to be seen.

Sir Walter talked me into reading the thread on the G Mas (their abbreviation) board. I also enjoyed the world-weary cynicism, which is pretty much the best you can do when a season isn't going very well and you've still got relatively fresh memories of NCAA tournament relevance.

As a 20-year Atlanta resident, my take on Hewitt was that he did a great job for a few short years at Ga Tech, made a championship game, got a big contract, and has ridden the gravy train ever since. Nothing posted on their board has caused me to indulge in a bunch of serious introspection about whether my perception of Hewitt has been overly harsh. Best guess is that the school already regrets their hiring of the available "big time" coach and is looking to try a young up-and-comer instead in the near future.

I well remember them punking UConn and wish the best for them against everyone but our guys.

[I also remember having a really difficult time understanding a word Larranaga said at the Davidson basketball camp in June 1972. I suspected it was a variant of English, but wasn't sure. Would have enjoyed being a fly on the wall when Clinton's own Terry Holland interviewed him.]

Lockett has been traveling as well. He is still going to redshirt. Lamar talks about him during games sometimes.

Glad to hear Marko was out there. No symptoms means he might be available Saturday. They'll need him.

And it's been pretty well established by his tweeter feed...Holloway's out for a while.

To be precise, Lockett is not redshirting since he has already played this season. Rather, he will need to obtain a medical hardship waiver to have his freshman year of eligibility restored.

Semantics.

Just about everyone else except for the NCAA calls it a medical redshirt. But ok...

Lockett, according to Lamar during the broadcasts, has been on the team trips this year. He isn't going to play the rest of the season so they will submit a medical hardship waiver in hopes of having his full 4 years of eligibility available to him.

I sincerely hope this clears up any confusion for anyone else regarding Lockett. I shudder to think anyone was confused by his situation.

I heard Marquise has a nagging ankle (I think) injury and it always flares up because he plays so hard.

Coach Hewitt said something in a pregame once about his bone structure? or something. I don't recall exactly.....

No idea honestly haha, its just what I heard through the grapevine and its obvious since he does hobble a bit playing through it.

There’s also Davidson at George Mason Saturday night at The Patriot Center. The Patriots continue to struggle in the Atlantic 10 but Davidson, which joined the conference this season, has made the jump (from the Southern Conference) look relatively easy. The Wildcats are 4-2 in the A-10 (13-4 overall) including a win Tuesday against 22nd-ranked Dayton. Why? Because they can shoot the three about as well as anyone in the country and because Bob McKillop is one of the best coaches in the business …

So, is he implying that Hewitt isn't one of the best? Blasphemy! It is really hard to move to the A10 from a lower conference and succeed. If you look at the last 3 to make the move to the A10, vcu, Mason and Davidson, you will see that they all have struggled...Oh, wait, scratch that argument. We seem to be the exception.

Damn you PMP for making people think we abbreviate George Mason as G Mas. For that alone he should be banned.

LOL. As I've stated before, it isn't my baby. This was compliments of the four letter network and their crawl.
