At this point - I would drop it to a 6 man rotation - play the 5 starters from the bonnie game and ride them the entire game - no subs. Maybe bring Marco in on occasion - maybe even give Royal a shot but that's it on subs.

We jump out on the Bonnies and then "subs" are made and the chemistry is lost and the other team runs. I think in the UMass game Corey was pulled right after he hit his second 3 and you could tell he was feeling it.

Ride the starting 5 - we may not win anymore games but I think it gives us a better chance to win and at least be competitive throughout. We would not be the first team to play a short rotation and for the most part they all seem to be playing hard.

Things break down quickly once we sub - the "others" are not playing D, standing around and killing any chance to win with quick off balance shots.
Agreed. With TV timeouts every 4 freakin minutes no one should get tired. We're talking about 18 - 22 year olds.

So, you are proposing benching Trey Porter, Patrick Holloway, & Vaughn Gray for the remainder of the season. And, how is this going to help the development of Porter?

Not liking all the hating on the players I see in this thread. Yeah, they make some mistakes, but shit rolls downhill and these kids DO bust their a** every time they get on the court. They just don't bust their a** in the right direction, or at the right people, or at the right times. Yeah they make mistakes sometimes, but who doesn't at this level?

If I didn't love the players and school so much I'd just walk away from being a fan and it would be easy. I want to see these kids succeed, I just don't think they can with Hewitt. Let's keep the criticism focused on him instead of trying to lambast kids just doing their best. I don't think anyone wants to lose.

Chances are they are more frustrated than we are....they have to live with the current situation every single day. And based on media interviews with the HC....I am sure they are told each day by the HC that they are ruining him.....

I don't know if this happens often in college sports, but if there was senior leadership on this team, one would think that one would get a players meeting only together and see what results.

So - I was not hating on the kids on doing a 5 or 6 man rotation - so let me rephrase this to the coach and how he subs. I was careful not to mention any player names - but I get it - I excluded a bunch without naming them. I get that you have to have develop the freshman as well and they will make mistakes.

But, you should have to earn your play time and if you aren't playing well you won't get the play time - I don't see this coach working that way. It's that way with my daughter's 8th grade AAU team and the Boy's AAU teams are even tougher on their rotations as they really pressure everyone to win.

Seems like if we get a lead, Hewitt starts to sub and it usually makes no sense like taking out the hot handed player and then it just seems like he goes down the bench. I don't see practice so maybe these guys have earned the play time.

But the coach should put these kids in a position to win, if the kids on the floor have proven that man to man D is not their strength don't play to man to man while you have them on the floor.

If the HC (Head Cunt) was able to push these kids in the right direction, and get the most outta them (& recruit properly) there would be more evidence of tough love. Instead, the cunt coddles all of them. Never yells at a player as he yanks them for a mistake. So the culture becomes unaccountabilty for mistakes, and/or lack of effort. We as fans arent used to that. Then that leads to complacencey all over. All we have is a very comfortable team. Coach's chill, players chill, a lil practice, gameday comes and we play from behind for most part of 3.5 years. Its been said a million times, it all starts and ends with Head Cunt.

What about Vaughn Grays? Seriously. This type of crap wouldn't work with a roster like this one.

I really tried hard not to like this post -- my wife and sisters would be appalled -- but I can't help myself. Well done, GS.

No apologies necessary -- my wife already knows exactly how I feel about our HC.

I just usually use different colorful terms when talking about him.

Me neither. And at the same rate the AD's job is to work with the students, not cater to the fans. I doubt we'll get a Hewitt firing if everyone is going to class and getting good grades, even if we are losing on the court. The main pressure is the loss of revenue and support from having a losing basketball team, which won't really be a factor until the offseason since this season is already nearing its end.
Just throwing out a fictional scenario, but suppose there was a player that was about to become academically ineligible, and said player was convinced to leave the team, say, for personal reasons, would you count that?

Seems a fitting place for a story. In a few email exchanges I had with the Georgia Tech fan who gave me the @FirePaulHewitt Twitter account, he would refer to Hewitt as "the motherf**ker." At the time it seemed a little crass. In homage to the original owner of the Twitter account, when it is announced that Hewitt is stepping down I am going to tweet "The motherf**ker is gone."

Not unless it's a recurring issue, which it hasn't been in recent years. It would be more on the coaching staff if multiple players had academic issues over a period of years.

Forget about G Mas and this mismatch at GWU. Marymount (VA) hosts Christopher Newport at 4:00 PM tomorrow. Both squads are 6-1 in the CAC -- tied at the top. Will be a good one. Quality basketball for a great price ($5) and kids under 12 are free. Tell 'em the PoorManProfit sent you.
