Good effort to not get blown out or give up a 32-4 run, but we still lost. Despite the refs being terrible and everything else we still lost. Nobody should be satisfied with going into Richmond and "only losing by X amount of points".

Nope. We had every opportunity to win this game, but some players decided to not show up -- J2, Marko, Sherrod.

Could you imagine what we could have done to this vcu squad with a competent center and a fully functioning Sherrod Wright hitting shots inside and outside? It would have been 2011 all over again.

Guys just ran out of gas. vcu is deep and we missed some chippies. Can't do that when you have to play a perfect game to win.

Finally we got the passing of the torch tonight. It's Jalen, Marquise and PH's team going forward. Let's roll with the young bucks -- they can get it done. Very f**king pleased with them.

first, lets hear it for Jalen Jenkins, the kid really puts out. He is hard nosed kid with lots of upside potential. Now the rest. What sorry performances from J. Williams and Marco, these guys just don't have any athletic talent, they can hardly jump and are as soft as a player can get. A big good bye to Sherrod Wright. He has packed it in. I really think he just doesn't care anymore. You can see it.

Even though we played reasonably well in the first half, we sucked in the second half. No offense, poor shooting, cant dribble, too may turnovers. I vote to get rid of Hewitt, but come on we are just over matched. Why in the world are we in the A10. It s going to take years to get a representative team. Bad decision all the way around.

We lost. Sherrod hasn't shown up in weeks and we haven't had a competent center all season. It's time to get used to having a few different players not show up on a game by game basis this season. Again, we lost. No moral victories, that's bullshit.

The only reason we were overmatched is because the refs allowed a climate of streetball behavior continue by the vcu players. vcu shot 33% from the floor, 25% from 3 and were actually outrebounded by us by 2. The reason they won the game is because they shot 39 FTs to our 16, a lot of those, especially in the first half, were total BS calls. That's not superior talent.

I didn't say it was a moral victory. We should have won that game. No excuse to lose with the way vcu shot the ball, none. The game was there for the taking and half our team didn't want it bad enough.

Disappointed in the rebounding and poor decisions in the second half, but overall this game gave me a wee bit of hope for the rest of the year. Problem is, very rarely have I been at least ok with the effort for a stretch of more than a game or two under Hewitt. Can GMU put up another decent effort against St. Joe's? Obviously, we really need a win. They better bring it on Saturday. I don't want to drive 5 1/2 hours to once again wonder why I allowed myself to become hopeful.

I can understand not going with Sherrod at the end, but this team has major issues if he's checked out. Even with Holloway's increased minutes, this team simply cannot score enough to function without him. It can next year with a revamped offense and more plays run with Holloway, if Royal and Lockett can score, but this year Sherrod has to play and play well if we are to do anything.
Did you see Wright covering his hand and joking with Gray as the game was ending? I can imagine what those two were saying, and it's not good.

Thank you. vcu played like a**. Mason played worse. It was an ugly game that neither team should be proud of. When you have 8 players on your team its easy to win by 14 shooting 33%.

Sherrod certainly didn't look like it bothered him, sitting there watching us lose. Kinda pissed me off, actually.

I don't know how to feel about Sherrod's benching. Perhaps he deserved it. Just want him to play smart and with fire from here on out.

While it was a tough loss, the kids competed tonight. Yes, there was disappointment from some of the seniors (J2 and Sherrod). Yes, BA played out of control at times but at least he did not back down. The freshmen were unfazed and played well (double-double by JJ and good handle by Moore) despite the pressure. Patrick also played well and took good shots--although why he has trouble at the line is still a mystery. I'll also give kudos to Copes who showed some glimpses of the presence in the paint he displayed early in his career.

This team can take some positives (no moral victory Expat13) from this game to build on. They played with intensity from the beginning until the end and should not hang their heads.

Our seniors made 8 of 29 shots tonight, not one of which was made by J2. For those keeping score at home, that's 27.5%. I've been a proponent of letting Sherrod work his way out of the slump if it's physical, but I'm with gmubrian on sitting his a** permanently if he's checked out mentally.

Exactly...not a good sign in any case, from multiple standpoints. He may not care.

I would be down with benching some upperclassmen for added experience for next year, but realistically we're completely punting this year if we do that.

Not sure what to do frankly, but I agree we just need to see PH/Jenks/MM more for sure.

Do want to compliment whipping boys Copes and Edwards for decent games tonight at least...

IMHO, this season was punted several games ago. At the same time, I think playing the youngins big minutes is the right move for the present and future. They're the ones with the balls.

The Sherrod Wright era is now over. He's the new Vaughn Gray.

We should punt this year and rreally go Paul Ball 2 for those plyers that will be coming back for Hewitts final year...
