"GMU started out slowly by losing two home games last month to Towson and Mount St. Mary's. But since then they have won 5 games in a row including a road win at Northern Iowa, an NIU team that won at Oklahoma already this year."

Actually, it's "UNI" and the victory over Oklahoma was at a neutral site.

If we were to knock off a Top 10-15 team during a season like this (or last), then I'm all for letting the students rush the court, all apart of the experience. If we're playing how we did in 2010-2011, then I think it should be more of a "business as usual" approach, acting like you belong type of thing.
Anyone else, maybe. I still think against your main rival it's acceptable on a last second shot.

Devil's Advocate: If I'm a superstar athlete getting ready to make big money as a pro player and some 20 year old comes running at me after a game I'm going to assume the worst and protect myself.

Yea, totally understand this POV as well. Look at the OSU-Michigan game last week, there had to have been 60,000 people that rushed the field.

And football players have more to protect themselves with. I'd hate for it to happen, but an angry player could use their helmet to protect themselves. Basketball players don't have anything like that. Unless they snap attackers with a towel or something! :)

"WHO SAYS YOU HAVE TO BE TALL TO REBOUND?
Mason ranks 40th in the nation in rebounding margin (+6.9) despite ranking 328th out of 351 teams nationally in average height (6'3.5"/player). Three of the Patriots' starting guards average at least four rebounds per game, led by Marquise Moore, who is the nation's top rebounding guard (10.0 rpg). Mason excels particularly on the defensive glass, where the team is 48th nationally in def. rebounds/game (28.44). What's more, Mason allows an offensive rebound on just 25 percent of its opponents possessions, and that solid number ranks the Patriots 40th nationally."

http://www.gopsusports.com/blog/2016/12/watkins-steps-up-as-penn-state-preps-for-patriots.html:

"Among positives from veteran leaders and newcomers, Chambers made a quick note regarding contributions from Mike Watkins, especially surrounding his surging shot blocking ability.

Entering the week, Penn State is ranked fourth nationally and first in the conference with 57 blocks, with Watkins accounting for 33 of the team's total. With at least two blocks in every game this season, Watkins logged a career-high eight blocks in the win against Wright State. The sixth-highest total in single game in program history, Watkins' eight blocks are the most since Calvin Booth had nine in 1999.

'He's doing a really good job protecting the rim,' Chambers said. 'We're pressuring the ball a little bit more and he's doing a good job of waiting and waiting - and he gets off the floor really quick. He has great hands and I think that really helps him.'

Individually, Watkins is ranked fourth nationally and atop the Big Ten standings with 3.67 blocks per game.

Watkins' timelessness has made all the difference, giving those around him an added confidence boost.

'You might miss an assignment or get blown by but you know Mike is behind you covering the basket,' Tony Carr said.

Not surprised by his impressive total this year, Carr can recall some uneasiness heading into high school matchups against Watkins.

'Even back in high school I used to hate playing against Mike just knowing that he's a great shot blocker and that always messes with the guard,' Carr said.'"

We're well aware of our SOS and KenPom rating and all the other negative analytics alluding to our lackluster season but when you have the players on the team and a lot of the staff following you it's always best to stay positive. We're on a 5 game winning streak and heading into match up versus a P5 school, if anything, we're just trying to build some hype on campus. So yes, we understand that particular post was only intended to get fringe level fans excited that Mason is actually ranked above the bottom half of the A10, just as we're approaching the midway point of December. It's been awhile.

It's not negative analytics it's simply that we scheduled the second easiest non-conference slate in the A-10. It's great that you want fans thinking we are a top 6 team in the conference (despite zero A-10 games) but maybe you should try to educate fans instead of begging them for instagram likes and twitter follows.
